WMW Midnight Version 0.1

✨ Highlights

  • Runs on current retail WoW (patch 12.x). Reads the modern game database
format end-to-end, so today's races, models, items and customizations load.
  • Import your character from the Armory. Paste a character link and the viewer
rebuilds its race, appearance and gear — no account login or manual setup.
  • Correct multi-texture rendering. Cosmic capes, glowing orbs and other layered
materials now display properly instead of rendering solid white.
  • One-click installer and a new "Midnight" identity (name, icon, splash).

Added

  • Armory character import — load a character's race, appearance and equipment
straight from a Battle.net Armory link.
  • Windows installer — guided setup with Start-menu and optional desktop
shortcuts and a clean uninstaller; no administrator rights required.

Changed / Improved

  • Current retail WoW support (12.x) via the modern WDC5 database format with
    schema-driven loading.
  • Character customization — skin tones, faces, hair, geosets, equipment, and
colour swatches shown directly in the picker.
  • Rendering — M2 multi-texture combiner shaders for correct layered materials
(capes, orbs, glow effects), while keeping the classic lighting pipeline.
  • Model loading — better resolution of non-standard model paths; animation
    names are now populated.
  • Rebranded to "WoW Model Viewer Midnight" — new application name, icon and
    splash screen.
  • Removed the old built-in auto-updater.

Fixed

  • Blank or missing character faces.
  • Crashes while changing character customization across several races.
  • A memory leak that could exhaust memory and crash after switching between many
    models in one session.
  • Assorted stability fixes around model switching, animation and particles.

Notes

  • On first run, point the viewer at your World of Warcraft Data folder
(Settings → General → Game Folder).
  • 32-bit build for Windows.
