Webbit Beta 1
A free Windows website editor by Ravitz Computers, created as a fun side project with help from AI.
Install Webbit
Recommended: Download the Windows installer. Run it to install in Program Files. Setup checks for WebView2 and downloads it only if missing.
Portable app: extract and run Webbit.exe. Keep its bundled runtime beside it.
WinGet uses only the installer. The portable app and source code are separate downloads.
Source downloads are for developers; build.bat installs the build prerequisites. .sha256 files and SHA256SUMS.json verify downloads and are not applications.
Included in this build
- Alt-drag selection; Shift+Alt adds to the selection and Escape cancels.
- Ctrl-click opens local site pages in Webbit. External HTTP/HTTPS links require confirmation before opening in the default browser. Ctrl-drag still rotates elements.
- Visual/source editing, templates and element galleries, the optional ribbon, site import/export, browser preview, and the documented Beta 1 manager features.
- Stable split-view scaling, repaired right-click commands and ruler hide options; interface scaling defaults to 85%.
The installer and portable application include the Alt selection and link changes. The released source was compared with the current implementations.
Validation and status
239 automated checks and 12 browser interaction checks passed. Frontend, NSIS and portable builds completed; uploaded asset hashes were verified. Internal page navigation and external-link warning/cancellation were checked in the browser.
This is a complete downloadable Beta 1 build. Clean-PC installation, real SMTP delivery and independent security review remain outstanding; STATUS.md records feature scope and limitations.
WinGet submission: RC.Webbit. Availability depends on validation and merge; until then, use the installer above.
Webbit code is MIT. Vinny and Ravitz artwork retain their proprietary rights. Third-party notices are included.
