2.1.2
What's new in 2.1.2
Fixed
- Correct HDR detection — Go2HDR now distinguishes native HDR mode from Windows Advanced Color Management (ACM), so ACM in SDR is no longer treated as active HDR.
- Non-blocking autostart changes — enabling or disabling Start with Windows no longer freezes the application while Task Scheduler is updated.
- Reliable brightness state — the Dashboard no longer displays misleading fallback values when the current screen brightness is temporarily unavailable.
- Improved display recovery — display and brightness monitoring now recover more reliably after sleep, display configuration changes, and restoring Go2HDR from the system tray.
- Safer application lifecycle — improved single-instance handling, tray shutdown, service cleanup, and crash logging.
Improvements
- More precise HDR status — the Dashboard now distinguishes between active HDR, inactive HDR, and a temporarily unavailable display state.
- Safer Windows display integration — hardened DisplayConfig interop and added SDR white-level readback verification.
- Improved SDR Curve tools — added stricter import validation, safer import and export handling, and a more responsive toolbar layout.
- More resilient settings — settings are now saved atomically, invalid files are preserved for recovery, and loaded values are normalized before use.
- Improved update checker — added safer version comparison, trusted release URL validation, clearer network failure reporting, and protection against duplicate concurrent checks.
- Refreshed branding — updated the application, system tray, installer, and project logo.
- Build and maintenance improvements — added automated tests and CI, enabled stricter analyzers and dependency auditing, updated dependencies, and made installer builds safer and repeatable.
2.1.1
What's new in 2.1.1
New features
- Auto-update checker — Go2HDR can now automatically check for new versions on startup. A toast notification appears when an update is available. You can enable or disable this in Settings, or run a manual check from the new Updates section.
- Dashboard update banner — when a new version is detected, a banner now appears directly on the Dashboard with a shortcut to the release page.
- Import / Export SDR Curve — save your custom SDR curve as a JSON file and restore it on any device.
Improvements
- Updated default SDR curve — the default SDR curve has been reworked and better tuned for the Legion Go 2 display, improving overall HDR brightness behavior and consistency (special thanks to u/leeson865 for this!).
- Improved SDR Level editing — the SDR Level column now includes inline up/down spin buttons, removing the need to double-click into edit mode.
- Faster page switching — all major pages are now pre-warmed during idle time, making navigation between Dashboard, SDR Curve, and Settings nearly instant.
- Instant SDR Curve graph loading — the graph now appears immediately after opening the SDR Curve page instead of loading with a delay.
- Improved autostart behavior — Go2HDR autostart has been reworked to properly launch automatically in Xbox Mode / FSE environments as well.
Removed
- HDR Poll Interval setting — HDR Poll Interval setting — HDR state is now detected via system events (WM_DISPLAYCHANGE, WMI brightness callbacks) instead of a periodic timer, so the interval setting was no longer needed.
2.0.0
This release is a complete rewrite. The original tray-only utility has been replaced with a full Fluent Design WPF application.
New Features
- Dashboard — live HDR status, screen brightness, SDR level, and luminance in nits with a curve preview
- SDR Curve editor — interactive graph with draggable control points and an editable brightness-to-SDR table; changes are auto-saved
- Settings page — theme (Light / Dark / System), autostart, minimize to tray, start minimized, HDR poll interval
- System tray — left-click restores the window; right-click for Open / Exit
- Installer — Start Menu shortcut, optional desktop shortcut, Visual C++ 2022 runtime bundled (installed only when missing), full uninstall via Windows Apps & Features
Improvements
- SDR level is applied immediately on HDR activation, app launch (when HDR is already on), and when re-enabling the app via the toggle — brightness is always read fresh before applying
- Uninstaller detects a running instance and offers to close it automatically; the entire install folder is removed on uninstall
- Crash logging to
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Go2HDR\crash.logwith a startup error dialog for easier diagnosis - Published as a multi-file self-contained package — eliminates silent launch failures caused by antivirus blocking single-file bundle extraction
