A version of DXVK specifically adapted to the folder structure of World of Warcraft 1.12 and 3.3.5a.

Perfect for Stormhand's Project Reforged and Trimitor's WotLK 3.3.5a HD Client.

This release contains the 32-bit d3d9.dll, built from upstream DXVK v3.0.2 with the following modifications:

  1. dxvk.conf is located in WoW's WTF directory. DXVK looks for WTF/dxvk.conf first and falls back to dxvk.conf in the game directory if it does not exist. DXVK_CONFIG_FILE still takes precedence.
  2. Logs are written to WoW's Logs folder. If that folder does not exist, the logs are written to the game directory instead. DXVK_LOG_PATH still takes precedence.
  3. The hardware cursor size is configurable. Add the line d3d9.enlargeHardwareCursor = 1-4 to dxvk.conf to enlarge or reduce the cursor:
    • 1: original size
    • 2: double size (default)
    • 3: triple size
    • 4: quadruple size

Installation

  1. Download DXVK-WoW.zip and extract d3d9.dll into your WoW directory, next to the game executable.
  2. Optional: create WTF/dxvk.conf to change settings, e.g. d3d9.enlargeHardwareCursor = 1 for the original cursor size.
  3. To uninstall, delete d3d9.dll from the WoW directory.

A GPU and driver with Vulkan support are required.

Hang debugging

In case of a GPU hang or driver crash resulting in VK_ERROR_DEVICE_LOST errors, the environment variable DXVK_DEBUG=hang can now be used to help narrow down the crash location. Resulting log files may provide useful information in bug reports. This works best on AMD and Nvidia GPUs. See PR doitsujin#5790 for details.

Bug fixes and Improvements

  • Worked around a performance regression in games that create a new DXGI factory every single frame.
This affects Dying Light: The Beast with FSR enabled, and potentially other D3D12 games.
  • Granblue Fantasy Relink: Fixed spurious GPU hangs on Nvidia, may affect other games. (doitsujin#5785)
  • Halo CE: Worked around a game bug causing rendering issues. (PR doitsujin#5783)
  • Overwatch: Fixed potential swapchain issue when running at non-native resolutions. (PR doitsujin#5794)
  • Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory: Worked around a game bug that would cause night vision to misrender. (doitsujin#5780)

Note

Some Antivirus software has falsely started flagging DXVK recently, especially any 32-bit binaries, see VirusTotal report.
