RepoHax

RepoHax menu

RepoHax is an internal C++ mod and developer toolbox for R.E.P.O. It uses a custom immediate-mode UI, a native Unity SDK, and DLL proxy loading without requiring an external injector.

Important

This project was created for educational and mod-development research. Use it only in environments where every affected player has agreed to the changes. Host-only controls are marked in the menu and automatically disabled for clients.

Multiplayer and authority

  • Controls labelled Host only require the master client or single-player mode.
  • Unsafe host-only actions are rejected on clients when session safety is enabled.
  • Host eye lasers use room-owned Photon Blasters, and host gravity uses the game's player impulse RPC. Unmodified clients can therefore see the beams and receive the gravity correction without installing RepoHax. Because the laser carrier is a real game item, stock clients may also see its weapon model and standard effects.
  • Item and object position / rotation changes use the game's existing Photon synchronization where a compatible network component exists.
  • Unity does not replicate arbitrary Transform scale or edits to non-networked room geometry through the game's standard Photon stream. Those changes remain local on unmodified clients.
  • Local visual options such as FOV, fog, occlusion, flashlight changes, ESP, and chams affect only the local client.

Installation

RepoHax supports DLL proxy loading, so an external injector is not required:

  1. Close R.E.P.O.
  2. Download the Release dwmapi.dll.
  3. Copy it into the game directory next to REPO.exe.
  4. Start the game normally.
  5. Use the menu hotkey (` / ~ by default).

Example Steam path:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\REPO\dwmapi.dll

To use a DLL injector instead, rename the library before injection so it is not simultaneously loaded as the dwmapi.dll proxy.

Building from source

Requirements:

  • Windows x64
  • Visual Studio or Build Tools with MSBuild and the Desktop development with C++ workload
  • A Windows SDK and a compiler toolset compatible with RepoHax.vcxproj
  • PowerShell 5.1 or newer

From the repository root:

.\build.ps1 -Configuration Release -Platform x64

Force a clean rebuild:

.\build.ps1 -Configuration Release -Platform x64 -Rebuild

The resulting proxy DLL is written to:

build\Release\bin\dwmapi.dll

Build logs are stored in build\logs unless -NoLog is supplied.

Troubleshooting

  • Run the build command from the repository root so RepoHax.sln can be found.
  • Close the game before replacing dwmapi.dll.
  • If the game crashes before reaching the menu, remove other native hooks and external mod loaders, then test on a clean installation.
  • BepInEx, MelonLoader, overlays, or other hooking tools can conflict with RepoHax's own hooks.
  • If a button is disabled, check the session-status panel: the action may require an active run, a valid target, or host authority.
  • Use Reset risky toggles after testing world, physics, movement, or game-over overrides.
