Calibre Awards 0.1.0 Beta

This is the first public beta of Calibre Awards, a Calibre plugin for finding literary awards associated with books and stories.

Highlights

  • Adds a Check Awards button to the single-book Edit Metadata window.
  • Searches multiple literary-award sources:
    • Pulitzer Prizes
    • Nebula Awards
    • Hugo Awards
    • Locus Awards via SFADB
    • World Fantasy Awards
    • Nobel Prize in Literature
  • Reviews qualifying and non-qualifying award results before anything is written to Calibre.
  • Supports a configurable explicit-rank cutoff from 1–100, with a default of 5.
  • Supports conservative Possible Author Match warnings when a source omits a middle initial present in Calibre metadata. These results require manual confirmation.
  • Allows individual award sources to be enabled or disabled.
  • Supports customizable award-output formatting using:
    • <placement>
    • <year>
    • <award>
    • <category>
  • Optional write-back to a selected Calibre field, with append or replace behavior.
  • Includes a Restore rank & output defaults option.

Requirements

  • Calibre 9.13.0 or later
  • Windows, macOS, or Linux
  • Internet access while checking award sources

Known limitations

  • Pulitzer.org may temporarily block automated retrieval. Other enabled award sources will continue running.
  • Hugo ordinal rankings are available only where official statistics-backed ranking data is included by the plugin. List order is never treated as an inferred rank.
  • Anthology, editor, artist, publisher, and some other non-work award categories are not currently supported.
  • Award websites can change their page structure, which may temporarily affect an individual source.
  • This is a 0.x beta. Award-source and category coverage will continue to expand.

Installation

Download Calibre-Awards-0.1.0.zip.

In Calibre:

Preferences → Plugins → Load plugin from file

Select the ZIP and restart Calibre if requested.

The plugin does not require an API key, external account, AI service, or telemetry.

Please report problems through GitHub Issues, ideally including the book title, author, award/source involved, what the plugin returned, and what you expected.
