Remember position of Filter Assistant window

Not sure if this is the addon or the system, but I hate if any app steals focus. So I dim this down a lot.

However, with the new interface of Quickfilter, the filter assistant pops up behind my thunderbird windows (or partly covered).

Would it be possible to remember the position and pop up where it was last opened (i.e. where I place it after the first time, which is out of the thunderbird windows).

Running Manjaro Linux/KDE 6.x/Thunderbird ESR 140...

Sounds reasonable. Bit confused about the assistant popping up behind. maybe we can do something about that. Make sure you use the new version (html) as I do not do development on the old xhtml version anymore. The setting is on the Actions page:

Here is a quick fix (without the positioning for now). You can enable assistant taking the focus here:

it only restores the focus to the main (calling) window. So if you are editing in composer it won't do it.

Use the settings wheel to tell it how often the assistant steals focus (default 3 times).

if you keep clicking back into the main window it will give up after "n" times. Just in case you have more important things to do.

What numbers can I use? 3 and 5 do not seem to have any effect

hmm, the default (3) works for me. That means 3 times for each assistant window btw, not globally for all of them.. so if you click the main window once, it will set the focus back, also 2nd and 3rd time, then it will respect your decision. 3 may even be too high as a default.

I would have thought there is a live update if you change the number, let me check...
it works for me, I set it to 4 and it "gives up" after clicking the main window 4 times.

ok, so you always get 3 tries and then focus won't go back? try restarting Thunderbird in case the value is cached...

I implemented remembering the position as well:

it is stored when you click on the main window and when the assistant is closed.

Do I need to change any settings? It does not seem to have any effect.

NO, pre12 works for me both on the latest beta and on 140.12.1esr - so I would expect the position save to work everywhere else...
