HUD Guide
The soil HUD is a live overlay that shows nutrient levels for the field you are currently standing in or driving through.
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| Toggle HUD on/off | Bind Toggle Soil HUD in Options → Controls → Mods (SF actions ship unbound) |
| Open the full farm Soil Report | Open the in-game menu (ESC) → Soil & Fertilizer tab |
The HUD panel shows rows depending on which systems are enabled and what is happening on the current field:
Field 3
N ████████░░ 42 ppm Fair
P ██████░░░░ 27 ppm Fair
K █████████░ 160 ppm Good
pH ████████░░ 6.8 Good
OM ████████░░ 3.8 % Fair
W ████░░░░░░ 18% Low
I ██████░░░░ 32% Med
D ███░░░░░░░ 12% Low
Coverage: 45% / 70% min
Compaction: 12%
Yield ~-8%
The pressure rows (W = Weed, I = Pest/Insect, D = Disease) appear only when the respective settings are enabled. As of v2.2.5.0, the percentage values on weed/pest/disease rows are correctly left-aligned after their bar - an alignment issue that caused them to appear offset by one row is fixed.
Additional contextual rows may appear below the pressure rows:
-
Coverage: X% / 70% min- visible while a sprayer is active on a field. Shows how much of the field area has been covered in the current application pass. The fully-treated notification only fires once coverage reaches 70%. -
Compaction: X%- visible when soil compaction is above 0% and the compaction setting is enabled. Colour-coded: green (< 20%), amber (20–60%), red (> 60%). See Soil Compaction for details. -
Yield ~-X%- when standing in a field with a growing crop, shows the estimated harvest penalty based on current nutrient levels and all active pressure scores. This is not a warning display - it is exactly what the combine will collect.
Each bar represents the internal 0–100 value scaled to display as agronomic PPM or real units:
| Value | Display unit | Good threshold |
|---|---|---|
| Nitrogen | ppm (plant-available N) | > 150 ppm |
| Phosphorus | ppm (Mehlich-3) | > 27 ppm |
| Potassium | ppm (Mehlich-3) | > 160 ppm |
| pH | pH units | 6.5–7.0 |
| Organic Matter | % | > 4.0 % |
Status labels:
- Good - no action needed
- Fair - monitor; consider fertilizing before the next crop
- Poor - action needed; yield may be affected
The overall status badge shown in the HUD title bar reflects the worst value across all tracked dimensions - N/P/K, pH, organic matter, and all three pressure scores. A field with optimal nutrients but high weed pressure will show Poor, not Good.
Field health pressure tiers (Weed / Pest / Disease):
| Tier | Range | HUD color | Action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Low | 0–25% | 🟢 Green | None needed |
| Moderate | 25–60% | 🟡 Yellow | Apply treatment soon |
| High | 60–100% | 🔴 Red | Yield being affected |
When standing in a field with a growing crop, the HUD shows an estimated yield penalty based on current nutrient levels and the crop's sensitivity tier:
| Tier | Crops | Penalty scale |
|---|---|---|
| Tolerant | Barley, oats, sunflower, rye, sorghum | Mild |
| Moderate | Wheat, canola, maize, triticale, peas, beans | Standard |
| Demanding | Potato, sugar beet, soybean | Severe |
A combined nutrient deficit below 70% of optimal triggers the penalty calculation. Maximum penalty is capped at 50%.
Five position presets are available in Settings:
| Option | Location |
|---|---|
| Top Right | Default |
| Top Left | |
| Bottom Right | |
| Bottom Left | |
| Center Right | |
| Custom | Drag the panel in HUD Drag edit mode |
The drag action (SF_HUD_DRAG, default: Shift+H) is a proper FS25 input action and can be rebound in the standard FS25 key bindings menu (ESC → Settings → Controls → Mods). Press it to enter HUD Drag edit mode, then drag the panel anywhere on screen. Position is saved per-player and is not synced in multiplayer.
All HUD display options are per-player (not synced to server):
| Setting | Options |
|---|---|
| Show HUD | On / Off |
| Position | 5 presets + custom (Shift+H drag) |
| Color theme | Green / Blue / Amber / Mono |
| Font size | Small / Medium / Large |
| Transparency | Clear (25%) → Solid (100%) |
If the HUD shows no field data, you are either:
- Standing between fields (not on a recognized field polygon)
- On a field that has not yet been scanned (rare - try moving to a different part of the field)
- On a field you do not own (HUD still shows data for all fields regardless of ownership)
