Bringing AI Law into Practice
An NGF-funded project applying technical methods to the law with the aim of making the EU's ambitious AI regulation – particularly the GDPR and AI Act – work in practice.
The RegTech4AI project focuses on bridging the gap between AI regulations and their practical implementation. While the GDPR is now more than 7 years old, significant gaps remain between law and practice. As the EU introduces the AI Act, RegTech4AI researches regulatory technologies (RegTech) to assist enforcement agencies and businesses with AI regulation.
- Regulation – Assess and improve the EU's process for AI regulation
- Communication – Make knowledge around AI regulation more accessible to SMEs and start-ups
- Competition – Ensure fair competition in AI and mitigate platform power
- Enforcement – Build new methods and metrics to help enforcement of AI regulation at scale
The project is led by Dr. Konrad Kollnig and is part of the Law & Tech Lab at Maastricht University.
