Reliable Collaboration unofficial NetBox read/write MCP v0.4.2
The Reliable Collaboration Company's unofficial read/write MCP Server for NetBox,
with an open-source feature focus bias. Built for existing NetBox installations,
home labs and small businesses priced out of
NetBox's official enterprise offerings.
For the official managed integration, see the
Platform MCP Server.
Supports NetBox Community 4.7.x and later; integration-tested on 4.7.2. Later
versions are accepted, not yet qualified by the recorded suite.

Mounts into your existing upstream NetBox image; no replacement image or local build.- Source distributions,

MCP initialization, capabilities and get_guidance deliver the instructions;
operators do not need to inject an agent guide. Native NetBox permissions remain
authoritative. Keep the journal private; external side effects have no universal
rollback. Branching and commercial integrations are excluded.
See the release-tagged README for traditional, Compose, Kubernetes and Helm
integration recipes. CI gates publishing on unit/build checks and the real NetBox
suite, including a plugin-bundle check on an unmodified upstream image.
Changes in 0.4.2:
- Plain-language README with Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode setup.
- Better built-in guidance for interface tracing and nested JSON/YAML imports.
- Read failures distinguish missing routes from missing objects and offer cached schema route suggestions.
- Local GLM evaluations passed all 24 Community checks in each of the three clients, using Reliable Collaboration's unofficial NetBox read/write MCP server and its companion. Earlier failed attempts are retained in the evaluation record.
- Stronger evaluation checks reject failed trace attempts and outside tools; Codex evaluation explicitly disables inherited Apps.
Live model tests are local only. CI performs deterministic testing and builds the downloadable assets without model-provider credentials. These are targeted CLI/GLM results, not qualification of every model or future NetBox release.
Release v0.4.2 passed the gated release workflow: 619 tests plus six subtests (387 unit and 232 real-NetBox integration tests), 91.99% runtime coverage, and the Python 3.11–3.14 matrix. All nine public downloads passed checksum verification. The published application contents match the locally tested candidate, and the downloaded application passed setup and live doctor checks. Full evidence is in docs/release-validation-0.4.2.json.
