When I ran Setup-Linux.exe, it reported putting the files in /home/root/Desktop, but Batocera doesn't use a /home folder. I tried searching the file system but cannot find any trace of Reloaded-II.

If you don't have a /home folder, where should I install to by default?
Would you know an appropriate location?

There's also the Legacy Guide, for the worst case scenario, but that one's a bit harder to follow.

All native programs go in /userdata/roms/ports. It looks for the executable as a .sh file, with any supporting files in a /userdata/roms/ports/.data/[program_name] directory.

Going to have to wonder about how to best wire this up.
The whole installer is really a hack, as it's an older Windows program at the end of the day.

The way it currently works is just by dropping the installed program and a (.desktop) shortcut to /home/$USER/Desktop. The .desktop shortcut essentially launches the program inside protontricks.

I imagine in this case, you'd want a shell script in /userdata/roms/ports?
One that basically has the contents of the .desktop's Exec= as the inner shell command. With the files in /userdata/roms/ports/.data/[program_name].

Makes me wonder- where does the icon come from in such a scenario? Some shell export?

I could be mistaken, but I don't think Batocera tries to use icons for anything in the ports folder.

I'm happy to add whatever's needed to the installer- albeit, I just need to know exactly what is needed.
So if a checklist could be made, with what goes where; that'd be grand.

From my understanding, its only two main things needed

• Reloaded II files to /userdata/roms/ports/.data/Reloaded-II - P5R
• Launcher shortcut at /userdata/roms/ports/Reloaded-II - P5R.sh (not using protontricks-launch, I can't figure out how to make aliases persist on Batocera)

For the Reloaded-II - P5R.sh script I used this:

I needed to add --no-runtime because protontricks had a hard time finding Steam on Batocera.

Hmm, checks out.
Detecting flatpak may be possible from within Wine, but it wouldn't be trivial.

You can launch native Linux processes from within Wine, but at least last I checked years ago, you can't wait for their exit, so hacks are needed like shell wrapper scripts that drop files.

Alternatively, would need to find out where flatpak installs protontricks, and if it's consistent across various OSes.

I'm currently working on trying to brute force this so I can leave my findings here.

Cannot use flatseal to modify perms for prontontricks as the flatseal cannot find additional flatpaks. Needed to use the following commands instead:

flatpak override --user com.github.Matoking.protontricks --filesystem=home
flatpak override --user com.github.Matoking.protontricks --filesystem=host
flatpak override --user com.github.Matoking.protontricks --share=network

The next problem: when trying to launch P5R from Reloaded, getting an assertion error.

Guessing it can't find Steam? Would the ASI Loader method fix this?

Tried using ASI
Ran the ASI deployer got this:

ASI Loader Successfully deployed to: S:\common\P5R\winmm.dll
Reloaded Bootstrapper deployed to: S:\common\P5R\Reloaded.Mod.Loeader.Bootstrapper.asi

Added WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winmm=n,b" %command% into the Steam Launch Options, game doesn't launch now.
