@RemiPelloux RemiPelloux released this 07 Sep 14:04

OpenPlod 0.4.1

A focused workspace update for transcripts, recording-context AI, and Android pairing.

What's New

  • A compact transcript list and Markdown reader, with preview/source modes, Markdown/text/JSON exports, editing links, and Mistral document creation.
  • A cleaner AI Chat workspace with collapsible sources/history, selected-source chips, prompt shortcuts, answer copy/export, and explicit consent before sending transcript text to Mistral.
  • A dedicated Android connection page with reveal-on-demand pairing QR, automatic hiding, masked credentials, vault reachability checks, and confirmed unpairing.
  • Consistent custom SVG controls and responsive light/dark layouts.
  • Mobile transcript Back navigation and guards against stale asynchronous responses.
  • A detailed 1.0.0 roadmap. Additional AI providers are planned, not implemented in this release.

Download and Upgrade

Download OpenPlod-0.4.1-macos-arm64.zip and SHA256SUMS.txt below. Verify them in the same directory:

shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS.txt

Quit OpenPlod and back up your full vault before upgrading. Extract the ZIP and replace only the application in Applications. Do not delete the Application Support vault. The archive includes documentation, a build/source manifest, and the dependency-license inventory and available notices.

The Mac build is experimental, Apple Silicon only, ad-hoc signed, and not notarized. Direct Plaud extraction still requires external Swift tooling, ffmpeg, and ffprobe. No production-signed Android APK is published here; Android source and build instructions are included in the repository.

Validation

  • 106 Bun tests and 1,000 assertions, backend type checking, frontend lint/build.
  • Production macOS build and Android ARM64 debug build.
  • Android 16 KB APK ZIP and ELF alignment checks. A real 16 KB runtime device was not tested.
  • Real-library UI checks for transcript exports, Mistral document creation controls, chat consent/context, private pairing states, and navigation at 320-1440 px under the production content-security policy.
  • Existing real-audio playback, waveform-pixel, export, error-recovery, tooltip, and keyboard checks passed on a standalone rerun after an earlier concurrent-run timeout.
  • Installed Mac bundle signature/version and executable identity verified; previous/generated copies archived.
  • Package checked for private vault artifacts and known configured credential values; checksums verified.

Important Limits

This is not new Plaud hardware or live-provider acceptance. Historical direct extraction was verified only on the documented authorized Note Pro setup. Fresh-owner authorization, wider firmware/phone compatibility, byte-offset mobile upload recovery, full cross-peer deletion propagation, and original-sidecar purge remain open.

Mistral, Deepgram, and local whisper.cpp remain the transcription choices. The OpenAI/AssemblyAI/Anthropic/Ollama items in the roadmap are not new selectable providers yet. Cloud operations send audio or transcript text to configured providers; the default LAN service is not intended for public internet exposure.

MIT covers original OpenPlod contributions; inherited and third-party licensing boundaries remain documented separately.

@RemiPelloux RemiPelloux released this 07 Sep 13:00

OpenPlod 0.4.0

A more consistent recording and Markdown workspace, with source-linked Mistral AI chat and direct-device improvements.

What's New

  • Redesigned Recordings, Documents, and Plaud Device pages with 91 custom SVG icon exports, compact controls, light/dark themes, and responsive layouts.
  • Mistral AI conversations grounded in selected recordings, with consent, source references, saved history, and Markdown export.
  • Right-click recording tags, playback speed, timestamp bookmarks, and versioned transcript/speaker corrections.
  • Markdown formatting, document outlines, source panels, folder organization, history, and exports.
  • Audio-loading timeouts, cancellation, and failure recovery instead of a permanently spinning player.
  • Opt-in automatic Plaud import and offset-based Bluetooth download checkpoints.
  • An SDK-free native Android direct Bluetooth adapter in the source tree, with encrypted enrollment approved on an already-authorized Mac.
  • A verified Mac installer that archives duplicate bundles, plus visible build identity so installed updates can be checked.
  • Expanded README, current privacy-redacted screenshots, GitHub topics, MIT terms for original OpenPlod contributions, and GitHub Sponsors.

Downloads and Upgrade

Download OpenPlod-0.4.0-macos-arm64.zip and SHA256SUMS.txt below. On macOS, verify both files in the same directory:

shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS.txt

Quit OpenPlod and back up the entire vault before upgrading. Extract the ZIP and replace only /Applications/OpenPlod.app; do not delete the vault under ~/Library/Application Support/com.openplod.vault/. The archive also contains documentation, dependency-license inventory, and available license/notice texts.

This is an experimental Apple Silicon Mac build, ad-hoc signed and not notarized. Direct Plaud extraction requires external Swift tooling, ffmpeg, and ffprobe. No production-signed Android APK is included; Android source and build instructions are available.

Verified

  • 106 Bun tests and 1,000 assertions.
  • Backend type checking, frontend lint/build, macOS production build, and Android ARM64 debug build.
  • Android 16 KB APK ZIP and ELF load-segment alignment checks.
  • Real-library browser checks for waveform/playback, export, Markdown formatting, outline navigation, tooltips, keyboard operation, and responsive layouts.
  • Installed Mac interface and saved recordings checked separately from browser tests.
  • Git history and staged-source secret scans, plus known-private-value checks of source and the compiled app.

Important Limits

  • Hardware extraction was previously verified on one authorized Note Pro on Mac and Android. This release is not a new compatibility certification for other models, firmware, or phones.
  • Fresh desktop device authorization is not self-service or verified account-free. Android enrollment requires an already-authorized Mac; after enrollment its Bluetooth download does not use a Mac audio relay.
  • Cloud transcription and AI send audio or transcript text to the selected provider. The default LAN service is not intended for public internet exposure.
  • Cross-peer deletion propagation, original-sidecar purge, and byte-offset mobile-to-vault upload resumption remain unfinished.
  • MIT applies to original OpenPlod contributions. The inherited upstream README declares MIT but has no standalone license notice; dependency and vendor-asset terms remain separate. See licensing scope.

OpenPlod 0.3.0 - Markdown workspace, Mistral documents and MCP

Choose a tag to compare

@RemiPelloux RemiPelloux released this 07 Sep 07:16

OpenPlod

Your audio, transcripts and documents in one workspace

This experimental desktop-first release adds a Markdown organizer and Mistral document generation to the local recording vault.

New and improved

  • Nested document folders, stars, search, revision history, Trash, Markdown/JSON export and configured webhook delivery.
  • Create structured notes, meeting minutes and briefs from a transcript using Mistral. Review the generated Markdown before saving; source transcripts remain separate.
  • Versioned organizer REST API and a local stdio MCP server, read-only by default with explicit write opt-in.
  • Compact shadcn/Radix interface, light/dark themes, responsive layouts, clearer navigation and a real keyboard-accessible audio timeline.
  • Original editable vector logo, native icons, detailed setup documentation, contributor templates, security reporting and support links.

Download and upgrade

Download OpenPlod-0.3.0-macos-arm64.zip and SHA256SUMS.txt below. Verify with shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS.txt, extract the ZIP and move OpenPlod.app to Applications. Quit an existing app and back up the entire vault before replacing only the app bundle. The archive includes dependency notices and documentation.

The Mac app is ad-hoc signed, not notarized. Review the source/checksum before approving it in macOS Privacy & Security; do not disable Gatekeeper. Direct device extraction requires external ffmpeg/ffprobe and Swift tooling.

Important limitations

  • Direct Bluetooth extraction has been verified on one authorized Note Pro and Apple Silicon Mac, with real audio imported and played and the source session retained. This release did not repeat that hardware test.
  • Fresh-install Plaud identity provisioning is not a supported self-service flow yet. Detection alone does not authorize recording access. File import, microphone recording and the document vault remain usable without a Plaud identity.
  • Android source and build instructions are included, but no SDK-containing APK is distributed: the Plaud SDK binary has separate proprietary terms. Standalone Android extraction and complete on-phone acceptance remain unverified.
  • Original-sidecar purge, cross-peer tombstones and interrupted-transfer recovery still need hardening.

Validation

76 Bun tests passed, along with type checking, frontend lint/build and the 0.3.0 Mac build. The Mac signature and archive checksum were verified. Real-vault UI checks covered 320-1440 px layouts without mock records. Earlier Android redesign installation and all six ARM64 library alignment checks passed; these are not full phone-workflow acceptance.
