A safety release: the app no longer loses or hides your artwork.
Fixed
- Search → Select no longer deletes other games' artwork. When one game's ID starts with another's (for example 12345 and 123456), matching the first also deleted the second game's art, with no way back. Now only the matched game's art is cleared, Undo can restore it, and the fetch covers only that game.
- Search → Select fetches the exact game you picked. When two SteamGridDB games share a name (DOOM 1993 and DOOM 2016), the fetch could take the other one. The app now remembers your pick.
- A rejected API key no longer hides your library. If SteamGridDB stopped accepting your key, every game the fetch touched was moved to Hidden. Fetch now checks the key first: a rejected key fetches nothing and opens Settings; no connection fetches nothing and says so. If the key stops working mid-fetch, the fetch stops and hides nothing. Settings now says "A key is saved" instead of claiming the key is valid.
- A failed download keeps your old artwork. A timed-out download used to delete the old image and still say "Applied!". The old image is now replaced only when the new one has fully arrived, the log names anything that failed, and a failed icon no longer points Steam at a missing file.
- Nothing that changes your files can run during a fetch. While a fetch runs, Re-fetch, Ignore, Restore, Search → Select, Undo, theme and accent say "Fetch in progress", and Settings greys out the account switch, Clear Cache, Clear All Artwork, Clear saved undo data and Reset. A Settings window left open comes back to life when the fetch ends.
- Closing the window during a fetch asks first. If you confirm, the fetch stops after the current game and its unfinished downloads are removed. If the fetch was already finishing, the window closes straight away.
- Each Steam account gets its own
shortcuts.vdfbackup before its first change. Before, only the first account ever written to was backed up. The older single backup is kept. - Icon changes can no longer overwrite each other. Two parts of the app writing Steam's shortcut list at the same moment could lose one change; writes now take turns, and each one is safely on disk before it replaces the file.
- "Apply this one" no longer freezes the results window, and an interrupted download no longer leaves a broken image in Steam's artwork folder.
- The results preview always matches the option Apply installs, even when you click through options quickly.
- Animated artwork is placed only once its conversion has finished, so closing the app mid-conversion can't leave a broken image for Steam to show.
- Clear All Artwork, Clear Cache and Clear saved undo data finish the job even when one file can't be removed (for example an image open in a viewer), and tell you how many were left.
- The Search window's Select and Cancel buttons are always visible, even with a long list of results.
- Only one copy of the app runs at a time. Opening it again says it is already running, so two copies can't overwrite each other's icon changes.
Improved
- Large libraries scroll and search faster.
- The results screen uses less CPU, especially with animated previews.
