Release list
SimGolf desktop 0.2.2
New: Ctrl+F8 opens your saves folder (the same key as the browser version's Saves panel). Read me first.txt now explains how to move saves between the browser, the desktop app and the original 2002 game.
Unsigned desktop builds. Bring your own SimGolf disc image and v1.02 no-CD golf.exe; see Read me first.txt in each download. The macOS build is tested on Apple Silicon and Intel. The Windows build is still largely untested; please report what happens in Issues.
SimGolf desktop 0.2.1
Fixes the Windows build not starting because zlib1.dll was missing (#8). Nothing else changed from 0.2.0.
Unsigned desktop builds. Bring your own SimGolf disc image and v1.02 no-CD golf.exe; see Read me first.txt in each download. The macOS build is tested on Apple Silicon and Intel. The Windows build is still largely untested: 0.2.0 was the first one anyone ran on Windows, and it failed to start. Please report what happens in Issues.
SimGolf desktop 0.2.0
Unsigned desktop builds. Bring your own SimGolf disc image and v1.02 no-CD golf.exe; see Read me first.txt in each download.
New in 0.2:
- Sharp text and high-resolution course terrain at your screen's resolution (OpenGL 3.3), with xBR scaling for everything else. Ctrl+F9 toggles HD terrain, Ctrl+F10 cycles the scaling (xBR, nearest, smooth) and Ctrl+F11 toggles all HD drawing.
- The intro and closing videos play, with sound. A key press or click skips them.
- Fixed a crash in the course-site picker.
The macOS build is tested on Apple Silicon and Intel. The Windows build is untested: it compiles, but nobody has run it on Windows yet. Please report what happens in Issues.
SimGolf desktop 0.1.0
Unsigned desktop builds. Bring your own SimGolf disc image and v1.02 no-CD golf.exe; see Read me first.txt in each download. The macOS build is tested (Apple Silicon and Intel). The Windows build is untested: it compiles but nobody has run it on Windows yet. Please report what happens in Issues.
Game module for the desktop builds
golf-host.wasm: the port's compiled game code as a plain WebAssembly module (built from 3574b5b with tools/native/build-mac.sh; includes FFmpeg's Bink decoder, LGPL 2.1+). The Desktop builds workflow downloads it and wraps it in the native app. Not a player download: get the desktop app from a SimGolf desktop release. Contains no game files; you still need your own disc image and no-CD exe.
