A different numerical method has been implemented for the magnetic field simulation, the Newton Raphson method, given a separate software version. The non-linear magnetic response was previously (v1.1.5 and below) handled by the Piccard (fixed point) iteration, which exhibits convergence issues under certain conditions of applied field and temperature. The Newton-Raphson so far has not shown convergence issues, but the user is encouraged to try both the Picard and NR versions of the software.

FEMCE also received an update to its interface. The user actions are now separated in their own windows, which can interact with the main interface directly. A minor update: the graphics are now exclusively by scatter plots, as the patching of triangles is very inefficient when using millions of elements, which is a recent possibility thanks to the use of sparse arrays.

Final notes: The planned inclusion of C functions is now cancelled, without future plans on implementation.
