OS: Ubuntu 25.04
Provider: LM Studio (v0.3.22 Build 1)
Model: unsloth/gpt-oss-20b-GGUF (Happens for all gpt-oss models)

Start a new task
Observe harmony template displayed in chat window.

💥 Outcome Summary

Expected Roo's GUI Thinking block, but got raw model response (as per LM Studio API).
Upstream Issue: lmstudio-ai/lmstudio-bug-tracker#851

I am of the opinion that this should be parsed by Roo Code regardless of the API's response format.

It looks like there is no discrimination between reasoning and response tokens from LM Studio yet

adding more context. It seems to be how the Harmony tokens and formatted response is being parsed for tool calls.

When a response is returned via stream or otherwise
We get something similar to the below for a response that is not in think tags.

Below is what is shown in the think tags

I think I need to stop using commentary and just output the tool invocation. The user expects a single tool usage, no commentary. So I'll output:

[ ] Set up Python backend AI agent endpoint
[ ] Define database schema for Postgres tables
</todos>
</update_todo_list>

Let's output that.

I don't think this is something we can fix on our side, we do not support tool calls in the thinking blocks at the moment.

This is not the format we use for tool calls <|channel|>commentary to=update_todo_list <|constrain|>json<|message|>{"todos":"[ ] Create architecture plan\n[ ]

I will leave this issue open, but without more information it's hard to know what to do in this case
