MeritAI 0.3.0 (alpha)

• MeritAI is rebuilt to be smaller and lighter: the download is now 4 MB instead of 210 MB. The first start after this update downloads the AI engine (159 MB) once, and shows its progress.
• Your employee register and your hiring data (applications, screening results and emails) are now encrypted on this computer. It unlocks by itself for your Windows account; there is no password to remember.
• The first time this version opens your data, it encrypts it. Your employees, jobs and documents stay as they were.
• Only your Windows account on this computer can open it. If you open the MeritAI folder on another computer or from another Windows account, or after Windows is reinstalled, MeritAI still starts, but its Staff and Hiring pages say they can't open the data on this computer.
• Earlier versions of MeritAI can't read the encrypted data. If you start an earlier version again, its Staff page says "Couldn't load your staff register. file is not a database", its Hiring page looks empty, and the top bar shows "Your business" instead of your business's name. It doesn't change your data: open this version again and everything is there.

MeritAI 0.2.2 (alpha)

• MeritAI now updates itself: new versions download in the background; restart to update, or it updates when you close it.
• Send feedback puts your file into an email to the coordinator, ready to send.
• The microphone is in the side panel too: talk from any page, and the page highlights who or what you're talking about.
• Contracts, leaving and onboarding answers are more accurate: service, notice and redundancy pay worked out from the dates; super choice, casual to permanent and working holiday makers' 6 months.
• A first day on a public holiday is flagged (every state, 2026 and 2027).
• Fixes: the Hiring page title on narrow windows, and a reply that ended with the adviser's own notes.

• The conversation and the pages stay in step: what the adviser changes shows under its reply ("What changed", with the next step), the pages update at once, changed rows are marked, and a dot marks pages changed while you were elsewhere. Hiring someone by telling the adviser is the same as Add to Staff.
• Voice: the screen follows the conversation; a change that needs your OK waits on screen: say "yes" or press Yes, save. Settings shows what voice has cost (an estimate) and takes a monthly limit.
• Email drafts that open in your email app (MeritAI never sends email itself).
• New job from a template: 35 roles in 10 industries, a job description to edit, the likely award as a hint.
• Connections (coming soon): what MeritAI will connect to; tell us which you'd use.
• Chinese: Settings › Language. Documents stay in English.

Known

• The installer isn't code-signed: Windows may say "Windows protected your PC" (More info › Run anyway).
• The ChatGPT plan must include Codex. Voice needs your own OpenAI API key with billing.

• The side panel message box could be too small to click the first time it opened.
• A reloaded or resumed conversation shows its What changed cards and email drafts again.
• New files the adviser saves are marked in Files; reminders refresh as soon as something changes.
