These global shortcuts are wired into the classic UI. The new UI is still being brought up to parity, so a few of them may not respond yet. Everything else (closing overlays with Escape, arrow-key navigation in menus, and so on) works in both.
Press Ctrl/Cmd + P (or your custom key) to open the command palette. It lets you search and jump to any view, plus run common actions like creating a project, opening settings, or minimizing to tray. Type to filter, use the arrow keys to pick a result, and press Enter to run it.
These apply wherever a dropdown, list, or menu is open:

The settings sidebar in the new UI also responds to ArrowUp / ArrowDown to move between categories.
