This release introduces major usability, stability, and workflow improvements, bringing Videofy closer to a fully streamlined, professional-grade video optimization tool.

1. Global Settings & Persistence

New Global Settings Window

Added a dedicated Global Settings window (accessible from the Help menu) to manage app-wide behavior in one place.

Automatic Cleanup

New option to delete the original file after successful compression, allowing fully automated post-processing workflows.

Unified Format Control

Set a default output extension globally (e.g., always convert to .mp4 or .webm) across batch operations.

2. Advanced Progress Tracking (The Dashboard)

Live Speedometer

Integrated real-time FFmpeg speed reporting into the footer (e.g., 1.2x, 2.5x, or 400x during container copies).

Per-File Remaining Time (ETA)

Each file now displays an estimated time remaining directly beneath its progress bar for clearer expectations during batch jobs.

3. Tabbed Multi-Mode Interface

“Excel-Style” UI Stability

Re-designed the bottom control area into a tabbed layout, keeping the UI frame perfectly stable when switching modes.

Optimize vs. Convert (Instant)

  • Optimize Tab

    • Deep compression using CRF
    • Encoder selection (CPU / NVENC / QSV / AMF)
    • Resolution and FPS scaling

  • Convert (Instant) Tab (Experimental)

    • High-speed container swapping
    • No re-encoding for near-instant results

Tab-Independent Settings

Each tab now maintains its own output format, allowing Instant Copy to use a different container without affecting global compression settings.

4. Safety & Technical Guardrails

The “Copy Guard”

Automatically detects Instant (copy) mode and removes incompatible video filters (such as resizing or FPS changes) to prevent FFmpeg failures.

Manual Deletion Lock

File deletion is hard-disabled in Instant Mode, protecting against data loss if a copied container turns out to be unplayable.

Collision Prevention

Improved file handling now auto-generates unique output names (e.g., file (1).mp4, file (2).mp4) to avoid overwrites or file-lock errors.

Fixes & Reliability Improvements

  • Fixed an issue where opening the FFmpeg folder could fail if the directory was missing
    → The app now automatically recreates the FFmpeg path when needed
  • General stability improvements across long-running batch operations
  • Improved error handling around external process execution
