Tired of losing an active mission to an inactivity logout while you take a bathroom break or walk the dog? Waiting out a prison sentence and need a break from the keyboard?

Meet AltX Anti-AFK, a free, lightweight Windows utility by SCCypherNomad. It sends the helmet-wipe shortcut, Left Alt + X, every ten minutes to help keep your avatar active while you step away. Two buttons. No installer. A tiny 54 KB program.

Download AltX for Windows

Star Citizen must stay in the foreground with keyboard focus. AltX does not work with the game in the background or minimized. If you focus your browser or another window, that application may receive the shortcut instead. Deactivate AltX before switching away from the game.

Download and setup

Download AltX-windows-x64.zip, choose Extract All, and open AltXTimer.exe on Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. Keep the extracted folder somewhere permanent and pin the running app to your taskbar to reopen it easily. No installer or additional runtime is needed.

Use

1. Open Star Citizen first.
2. Open AltXTimer.exe and click Activate. Return keyboard focus to Star Citizen within ten seconds. Keep the game focused. Do not minimize it, Alt+Tab, click your browser, or focus another window. Windowed or borderless mode still requires focus.
3. AltX sends Left Alt + X once, then every ten minutes while active.
4. Restore AltX using its taskbar icon and click Deactivate to stop and exit completely. Closing the window or pressing Escape also exits. After exit, AltX uses no RAM or CPU.

Verification

I verified AltX Anti-AFK working on Windows 11 with Star Citizen 4.10.1 on 7 October 2026, with the game in the foreground and receiving keyboard input. This confirmation applies to that Windows and game version.

I chose the ten-minute repeat after observing an inactivity logout after about fifteen minutes in my own testing. See the verification details for the live game confirmation and automated timing checks.

The executable is unsigned; SCCypherNomad is the author credit. Source code and checksums are available as AltX-source.zip and SHA256SUMS.txt below.
