A ground-up redesign of the editor UI. Automations built with 1.x open and save as before — the engine changes below only close gaps where steps used to be lost or rejected.

Added

  • Start screen — all automations grouped by area, with search, filters (on / off / triggered today), sorting (A–Z / recently triggered), an on/off switch per card and a plain-language preview of each automation's trigger. Automations Home Assistant has no config for (deleted, orphaned entities) are shown as "unavailable" instead of "off".
  • Readable node cards — every node states what it does ("Bed light changes to On", "Between 06:00 and 22:00", "Wait 5 seconds") using Home Assistant's own names and translations, shows the live state of its entity, and has a + button to append the next step.
  • ⌘K command palette — insert blocks, run commands and canvas actions, open automations. Right-click menus on nodes and the canvas, a keyboard-shortcut overview (?), and new shortcuts (⌘S save, ⌘⇧S save with details, ⌘⇧F tidy up, ⌘B block library, ⇧F show everything).
  • Last run on the canvas — a chip shows the automation's most recent real run (when, result); one click overlays its path with step numbers, skipped steps and errors on the failing card. Follows new runs live; opening an automation from its "last triggered" time on the start screen shows that run right away.
  • Tidy up — lays out the whole flow automatically (undoable).
  • Problem list — everything that blocks saving, as a clickable list in the inspector and the save dialog (each entry jumps to its step), plus a problem count in the header.
  • Quick save — ⌘S / Save stores an existing automation directly; the dialog is only needed for new automations or "save with details".
  • YAML steps — action steps FLODE has no block for (e.g. the scene: shorthand, or steps from newer HA versions) are kept verbatim and written back unchanged, editable as YAML, instead of being turned into unknown.unknown.
  • Target-based triggers and conditions (Home Assistant 2026.x: e.g. Light turned on, Vibration detected) with Home Assistant's own target and option editors — including targets that are only areas, devices, floors or labels (previously failed to save). Based on PR #22.
  • Jinja2-templated action names (action: "{{ svc }}") — previously rejected on save. Based on PR #21.
  • Overview map can be switched on from the dock or ⌘K (off by default).

Changed

  • New look throughout: calmer cards, floating inspector and glass dock, redesigned block library with search, dimmed backdrop behind dialogs.
  • Much faster canvas on large Home Assistant installations: cards no longer re-render on unrelated state changes (measured 104 → 0 re-renders for 20 unrelated changes).
  • Phones: readable zoom, the inspector opens as a bottom sheet and the selected step stays visible above it.
  • Home Assistant's single-key shortcuts (e, c, a …) and its own ⌘K search no longer fire while you work in FLODE.

Fixed

  • Trace overlay mapped steps to the wrong cards — Home Assistant numbers delay, wait and action steps together; FLODE only counted action nodes, so e.g. a delay's trace landed on the following light action. The overlay now follows the flow the way the YAML is laid out, including if/else branches.
  • Dark mode: Home Assistant's entity picker list and the labels picker showed a white background.
  • Native Home Assistant pickers briefly rendered without a connection and threw errors (reading 'locale').
