abb6c28

Auto-published debug APK from main @ abb6c28 (build #164, 2026-07-29 12:28 UTC).

Install on your phone: download taskmind-debug.apk below (arm64, ~72 MB — every phone since ~2019), open it, and allow your browser/Files app to install unknown apps. Signed with the debug key, so it updates an existing install in place and keeps your data.

Old 32-bit ARM phone, an x86 device, or an emulator? Those can't install the arm64 build — grab taskmind-universal-debug.apk instead (all ABIs, larger).

TaskMind — Update 5.1.2 (v5.1.2)

🧠 TaskMind — Update 5.1.2

The reach point release. Same TaskMind as 5.1 — it just runs on a lot more phones now.

📱 Wider device support

  • Android floor lowered from 15 to 8.0minSdk dropped from 35 to 26, so TaskMind installs on the vast majority of Android phones instead of only the newest ones. Every platform call added after API 26 is version-guarded, so older devices route to the correct fallback (verified on-device on Android 8.0).
  • Three CPU architectures — the APK now ships arm64-v8a + armeabi-v7a + x86_64 (was arm64-only), so it also installs on 32-bit ARM phones and x86_64 emulators / ChromeOS. The native Whisper second pass stays arm64-only and gracefully no-ops elsewhere (Vosk, the primary transcriber, covers every architecture).

🧪 Under the hood

  • Robolectric tests exercise the new API-version guards across API 26–34, so the older-device fallbacks can't silently regress.
  • Version synced across the phone and Wear OS modules and the technical documentation; the in-app Settings footer reads TASKMIND · v5.1.2.

🔒 Privacy

Unchanged — on-device by default, an auditable egress log that normally reads "No data has left this device", and SQLCipher (AES-256-CBC + HMAC-SHA512) encryption at rest.

📥 Install

Download taskmind-v5.1.2-debug.apk below and open it on your phone (allow "install unknown apps"). Signed with the debug key, so it updates an existing install in place and keeps your data. Full details in the CHANGELOG.

TaskMind — Update 5.1 (v5.1)

@SMK1705 SMK1705 released this 10 Jul 15:51

🧠 TaskMind — Update 5.1

The reliability-and-reach release. Update 5.0 rebuilt how TaskMind looks; 5.1 rebuilds how much it can do and how much you can trust it to actually land the catch. It can now answer questions about your own items, track what other people owe you, transcribe speech natively on-device, reach your wrist, and plug into the system Gemini agent — on top of dozens of capture-, scheduling-, and Gmail-reliability fixes.

✨ New ways to act on your items

  • Ask TaskMind — a private, on-device chat that retrieves your saved notes and answers over them ("what am I waiting on from Sam?", "what's due this week?").
  • Waiting-On — track what other people owe you; it asks "did they deliver?" when that person is next in touch instead of auto-closing. Person-context reminders resurface an item the moment the relevant person is back in contact.
  • Daily Brief & Weekly Wins — a morning brief of what's ahead and a streak-free Sunday recap of what got done.
  • Reliability Doctor — a one-screen diagnosis of why a reminder might not reach you (notification access, battery, exact-alarm), with a fix for each.
  • Task Fade + bankruptcy — stale, undated to-dos fade; one tap archives the whole faded pile.
  • Magic Breakdown (split a task into a checklist), Ramble (segment a voice brain-dump into many items), Bounce-Back (snooze a message back as its original text).
  • Semantic search, auto-tags + saved smart filters, full natural-language inbox editing, and a "What TaskMind knows about me" dashboard you can review and forget from.
  • Priority (low/normal/high, LLM-suggested from urgency) and nag mode with alarm-grade escalation.

⌚ Reach & platforms

  • Wear OS companion — capture by voice from your wrist and a next-due tile.
  • System Gemini agent (AppFunctions) — TaskMind exposes createTask / getItemsDueToday / snoozeItem to the OS assistant.
  • Capture surface pack — dynamic shortcuts, Direct Share, a clipboard chip, and a lock-screen widget.

🧠 On-device engines

  • Native Whisper second pass — an optional, off-by-default whisper.cpp pass that upgrades the primary Vosk transcript when it materially improves it.
  • System Gemini Nano via ML Kit GenAI — a second selectable on-device understanding engine alongside MediaPipe Gemma.
  • Multimodal — with a cloud key, Gemini reads screenshots directly (vision), bypassing OCR.
  • In-app model download, two-way calendar sync, and Recurrence 2.0 (completion-based repeats + auto-detected patterns).

🛠️ Reliability

Dozens of fixes so items and reminders stop slipping: a dead background scan revived (Hilt worker factory), SMS / notification capture hardening and data-loss guards, a database that's never silently deleted (quarantined for recovery), cross-OEM recorder folders, and deep Gmail auth hardening (real errors, 401 self-heal, pagination, charset, masked emails). Reminder scheduling is steadier across reboot, timezone/clock changes, and DST, and monthly reminders keep their anchor day.

🔒 Privacy

Speech-to-text (Vosk, optional native-Whisper second pass) and screenshot OCR (Tesseract) stay on-device; a screenshot goes to Gemini vision only when you've set a cloud key — labelled honestly and logged in Data Egress. Encryption at rest is SQLCipher (AES-256-CBC + HMAC-SHA512); the encrypted backup envelope uses AES-256-GCM.

📱 Install

Download taskmind-v5.1-debug.apk below and open it on your phone (allow "install unknown apps"). It's signed with the debug key, so it updates an existing install in place and keeps your data. Full details in the CHANGELOG; architecture in the technical documentation.

TaskMind — Update 5 (v5.0)

Choose a tag to compare

@SMK1705 SMK1705 released this 01 Jul 16:06

🧠 TaskMind — Update 5

A ground-up visual redesign and a much quieter, sharper understanding engine. TaskMind now looks like an editorial app — and, just as importantly, stops turning shipping updates, receipts, promos, and verification codes into to-dos.

✨ Added

  • "Bold" editorial redesign across every screen — Inbox, Notes, Note detail, Sources, Settings, Privacy, and the first-run guide — with a live light/dark toggle.
  • Quick-capture sheet behind a + button: type or speak, understood on-device.
  • Bottom sheets for snooze, add to calendar (with a duration), and set a reminder (one-off / repeating / location).
  • Call + Get-directions actions now also live on the home-screen widget and the review notification.
  • Notes kind filter (All / Tasks / Reminders / Notes) with live counts, and a "needs setup" hint when an on-device model (Vosk / Tesseract) isn't downloaded.

🔇 Changed — far less noise

The extraction prompt was rewritten around one principle: extract only when you must act. Automated and promotional notifications — shipping/delivery updates, payment & autopay receipts, statements, subscription renewals, transaction/low-balance alerts, sign-in & security notices, marketing "last chance" deadlines, and verification codes — no longer become suggestions, even when they carry a date or an amount. Genuine invites, bills you must pay yourself, info to keep, and trips you'll attend are preserved.

🧪 Under the hood

  • A 166-case, web-grounded extraction eval with a per-type confusion matrix (cloud-model accuracy 85% → 98%, noise rejection 82% → 99%).
  • A broad automated test suite — DAO & Room migrations, the extraction pipeline, approval + rejection learning, every ViewModel, receivers & workers, and Compose UI tests.

📱 Install

Download taskmind-v5-debug.apk below and open it on your phone (allow "install unknown apps"). Full details in the CHANGELOG.

TaskMind — Update 3 (v3.0)

Choose a tag to compare

@SMK1705 SMK1705 released this 16 Jun 05:48
c442df7

The capture-to-action release. TaskMind now pulls content in from anywhere, turns approved items into real tasks, schedules reminders that repeat or trigger by place, learns from what you reject, and lets you move your data to a new device — all 100% on-device.

Quick capture from anywhere

Share-sheet target for text and images, a Quick Settings tile, a home-screen widget, and manual entry in the Inbox. Capture never reveals data, so your biometric lock on viewing stays intact.

A faster Inbox

Swipe to approve/reject, snooze for later, undo the last action, and filter by type or source.

Notes that act like tasks

Completion checkboxes with an Active/Completed split, tickable checklists, in-line deep links (phone, URL, email, address), and search.

Smarter reminders

Recurring reminders (daily/weekly/monthly) that reschedule themselves, and location reminders that fire via geofence when you reach a saved place.

New on-device sources

Screenshot OCR (Tesseract) and instant transcription of new voice/call recordings — all offline.

It learns & acts

Repeatedly rejecting a sender down-ranks similar suggestions; Approve/Reject straight from the notification.

Trust & portability

Passphrase-encrypted backup & restore (AES-256-GCM, PBKDF2), and a configurable background-scan frequency (15 min → 6 h).

Privacy

Every new source stays on-device. Settings → Data Egress still reads "No data has left this device." Location is optional and only used when you attach a place to a reminder.
