Welcome to the Project Starter Pack! This repository provides a boilerplate setup for starting new web development projects, featuring a modern stack and best practices to kickstart your development process.

Getting Started

Follow these steps to set up your development environment:

Prerequisites

Ensure you have the following installed:

  • Node.js (version 14 or higher)
  • MongoDB (or a MongoDB Atlas account for cloud-based database)

Installation

  1. Clone the repository:

    git clone https://github.com/SOtwoX1/Project-Starter-Pack.git
    cd Project-Starter-Pack
  2. Install dependencies: Navigate to both the frontend and backend directories and install the required packages:

    # For the backend
      cd backend
      npm install
    
    # For the frontend
      cd ../frontend
      npm install
    
  3. Setup environment variables: Create a .env file in the backend directory and include your environment-specific variables:

        MONGODB_URI=your_mongodb_uri
        JWT_SECRET=your_jwt_secret
    

Run the application:

4.Start the backend server

      cd backend
      npm run dev

5.Start the frontend development server:

      cd ../frontend
      npm start

Access the application: Open your browser and navigate to http://localhost:3000 to view the frontend. The backend will be accessible on http://localhost:5000.

This starter pack provides a foundation for building full-stack web applications. Customize the configurations, add your own components, and integrate additional features as needed.
