1.0.0
Added
- Search on Host... runs
grepon the host and opens a match at its line. - Following works with whichever of a host's shells you are looking at, not only its first.
- Host Key... shows the fingerprint recorded for a host, and removes it when the host has been rebuilt.
- The multi-command panel suggests the commands you have sent before.
- New Terminal on a connected host opens another shell, split alongside the ones it already has.
- A log in Output → SSH Multi Connect, and Show Log to open it.
- A checkbox in the multi-command panel for the split terminal group, so it can be turned off without opening settings.
- A word of explanation the first time VS Code's split button opens a local shell beside a remote one.
Fixed
- A host whose
ssh_confignames its ownIdentityFileauthenticated with a different key: the path was replaced with this extension's own~/.ssh/<host>_keyconvention. - Every connection to a host asked whether to update its key. A host publishes several, and only the first of each side's was compared, so any difference in order looked like a change.
- Splitting a terminal with VS Code's own button failed with "Starting directory does not exist": the directory reports reached VS Code, which took the remote path for the terminal's own.
- A window title, which every shell sends before each prompt, could be held back and never shown.
- The line that sets up directory reporting was shown in the terminal.
- Following the terminal moved the tree's root to that folder, hiding everything above it; it is revealed instead.
- The split-terminal checkbox was stretched across the panel, pushing its own label out of view.
- Selecting a folder showed no details when
ducould not read part of it, though it had reported a usable total. - A
Matchblock was read as part of the host above it, so that host showed settings that were not its own — and rewriting it, which happens on any edit, deleted theMatchblock fromssh_configentirely. - A test could fail for the machine's sake rather than its own.

Added
- Hosts behind a bastion, through
ProxyJumpand theProxyCommandforms that mean the same thing. LocalForwardandRemoteForwardentries open as tunnels on connect.ServerAliveInterval,ServerAliveCountMax,CompressionandForwardAgentare honoured.- Connect to SSH Host... in the command palette, listing every host with the live ones first.
- Edit Connection... on a host, for its address, user, port, jump hosts and key.
- Jump hosts can be set when adding a connection, and each credential prompt names the host asking.
- Optional password storage in the operating system's keychain, off by default.
- Drag files and folders from the desktop or the explorer onto Remote Files to upload them.
- Copy to Host... on a remote file or folder, copying it to one or more other hosts.
- Upload... on a remote folder, or in the Remote Files title bar, picking local files or a folder to send.
- Dragging a remote file or folder onto another folder moves it.
- Several remote entries can be selected at once, to move, copy, download or delete together; the File Details panel shows how many and how much.
- Download... on a remote file or folder, saving it onto this machine.
- Keep This Tunnel writes a running tunnel to
ssh_config, so it opens on every connect. - Remote Files can follow the terminal's directory, the other direction of the existing setting.
- An offer to move between the release and pre-release versions when the other channel has more to give.
- Connections that drop are rebuilt on their own, reusing this session's credentials and reopening the tunnels that were running.
- Run Command on Hosts... runs one command on several hosts and opens a report, grouping the hosts that agree.
- The multi-command panel shows the selected hosts side by side in a split terminal group.
Fixed
IdentityFile ~/.ssh/id_ed25519failed, because a leading~was never expanded.- Hosts defined in files pulled in with
Includewere invisible. - Disconnecting a host left its remote file list on screen when another host was selected.
- Creating a remote file or folder where the user lacks permission reported the error without offering sudo, unlike every other file operation.
- A connection killed by suspending the machine stayed in the tree looking live, since nothing probed it and nothing watched for it closing.
