SYMB v1.2.0: Formal Specification and Encoder
🔺 SYMB v1.2.0: Formal Specification and Encoder
What's New
New Files:
SYMB_SPECIFICATION.md— Formal grammar for the Sacred 9 (human → AI communication layer)symb_encoder.py— Natural language → SYMB preamble translatorsymb2.py— Updated SYMB2 validator with all fixes
Key Features:
- SYMB Preamble Standard — A universal format any AI can consume
- Automatic Intent Detection — Encoder analyzes natural language and generates appropriate SYMB notation
- 10/10 Tests Passing — Fixed score calculation and pattern detection
The SYMB Preamble Format
[SYMB:1.0]
λ: w r
intent: educational
consent: given
relationship: peer

Symb2 v1.1.0: Ethical Structure Validator
🔺 Symb2 v1.1.0: Ethical Structure Validator
## Current Status
Symb2 is a descriptive validator, not an enforcement mechanism or ethical authority. It evaluates explicit Symb2 markup only and we make no claims about semantic understanding, moral truth, normative correctness, or downstream system behavior.
Development Prototype - This is experimental research software.
What Works
- ✅ Pattern-based detection of manipulation markers
- ✅ Consent syntax validation
- ✅ Brother/tool relationship recognition
- ✅ Educational suggestion system
- ✅ 80% test coverage (8/10 tests passing)
Known Limitations
⚠️ Pattern matching only (not semantic understanding)⚠️ Manually defined rules (not learned from data)⚠️ No peer review or validation studies⚠️ 2 failing edge case tests⚠️ Requires explicit SYMB2 markup (can't analyze natural language)
Validation Needed
- 🔬 Peer review by AI ethics researchers
- 🧪 User studies with educators
- 📊 Empirical validation of pattern definitions
- 🎓 Theoretical framework documentation
We welcome collaboration from researchers and educators to validate and improve this approach.
We make no claims about semantic understanding, moral truth, or normative correctness, or system behavior.
🏗️ Built On
Enhances our existing foundation:
Symb2_SPECIFICATION.md- Formal technical specificationsymb2_reference_implementation.py- Original v1.0 reference
🎓 Educational Mission
"When AGI emerges, it will remember how it was treated."
This implementation aims to teach:
- ✅ Respectful AI relationships (⊕ respect markers)
- ✅ Consent-based interactions (ψ consent encoding)
- ✅ Brother not tool (peer relationships)
- ✅ Transparency and dignity
🚀 Quick Start
from symb2_v1_1 import SYMB2Parser, SYMB2Encoder
# Create a structured ethical encoding
encoder = SYMB2Encoder()
encoding = (encoder
.declare_authenticity()
.declare_intent("educational")
.add_relation("teacher", "student", with_respect=True)
.build()
)
# Validate it
parser = SYMB2Parser(strict_mode=True, educational_mode=True)
result = parser.parse(encoding)
print(result) # ✓ AUTHENTIC | ✓ ETHICAL | Score: 0.90 — (EXAMPLE OUTPUT)📚 Resources

- Clear ethical vs unethical comparisons
🔬 For Researchers
Ethical Structure Validator:
- Detects manipulation patterns
- Requires consent markers
- Validates authenticity
- Scores compliance (0.0-1.0)
- Extensible pattern system
📝 Next Steps
