CineMoy v0.2.0 — Play, Sync & Updates 🎬
A big update: one-click playback, subtitle sync on Android TV, automatic updates, an important fix for TV boxes, and CineMoy is now available for macOS and Linux.
✨ What's new
🖥 Now on macOS and Linux
- macOS: for Apple Silicon (M1–M4) and Intel Macs.
- Linux: an AppImage for any distribution, plus a
.debpackage for Ubuntu and Debian. - Same app as on Windows: catalog, built-in streaming engine and Farsi subtitles.
▶ One-click Play
- Every title now has a Play button. CineMoy picks the best source for you: your preferred quality, plenty of seeders, a format your device can play, and no foreign-dubbed or oversized files.
- The full source list is still there if you want to choose yourself; the automatic pick is marked ★ Best pick.
- Resume continues from where you stopped, using the same source.
- The next episode of a series automatically uses the same release as the previous one.
- New setting: Quality for the Play button (1080p, 4K or 720p).
💬 Smarter Farsi subtitles
- Subtitles are now ranked by how well they match the video file. A subtitle made for the same release is almost always in sync from the start.
- Matching subtitles are marked ✓ Matches this video.
📺 Better Android & Android TV player
- Subtitle sync: shift subtitles earlier or later in 0.5-second steps, live, with the TV remote.
- One Subtitles menu lists both online subtitles and subtitles inside the video file.
- Reach Subtitles and Sync by pressing Up on the remote. The CC and Menu buttons also open the subtitle menu.
- Download speed and peer count are shown while the player controls are visible.
🔄 Automatic update check
- CineMoy checks for new versions and shows what's new.
- Android / Android TV: downloads the right version for your device and opens the installer. No browser needed.
- Windows: opens the correct download in your browser.
- You can also check manually in ⚙ Settings.
🔒 Desktop: private by default
- The desktop app now only serves your own computer.
- To let a TV or phone on your Wi-Fi use your computer for streaming, turn on Share with TVs and phones on my network in ⚙ Settings. The addresses to open on your TV are shown there.
🛠 Fixes & reliability
- Fixed: large movies failed to play on many Android TV boxes. On 32-bit devices, videos over 2 GB became corrupted while downloading ("Playback failed: ...MALFORMED"). This affected v0.1.0 too, so updating is strongly recommended.
- The engine no longer stops because of an error from a single torrent. On Android, if the engine ever stops, CineMoy restarts itself.
- When storage is almost full, CineMoy stops downloading ahead but keeps playing what you're watching.
- Remote control: pressing Down from the top menu now goes straight to Continue watching.

⚠️ Known limitations
-
macOS and Linux builds are new and haven't been tested on real machines yet. Please report any problems on GitHub.
-
macOS and Linux check for updates but don't install them yet; they open the right download in your browser.
-
On desktop, some HEVC/x265 files, or files with AC3/DTS audio, need ffmpeg installed for compatibility mode:
- Windows:
winget install ffmpeg - macOS:
brew install ffmpeg - Linux:
sudo apt install ffmpeg
Or pick a source without a "may not play" badge.
- Windows:
-
The Windows and macOS apps aren't code-signed yet, so the first launch shows a warning (see Installing).
-
Streaming speed depends on the torrent's peers. If a source is slow, choose one with more seeders.
CineMoy 0.1.0
CineMoy v0.1.0 — First release 🎬
The first public version of CineMoy: browse movies and series, stream them from Torrentio, and watch with Farsi subtitles on Windows, Android phones and Android TV.
✨ Highlights
- Browse and stream: popular movies and series, genres, search and full episode lists (Cinemeta catalog). Sources come from Torrentio, sorted by quality and seeders.
- Built-in streaming engine: torrents play while they download, with seeking. No separate server needed on Windows or Android.
- Farsi subtitles, automatically: found on OpenSubtitles and SubDL and listed in the player. The best Farsi one turns on by itself. Old Windows-1256 files are fixed automatically, and text displays right-to-left.
- Native player on Android: ExoPlayer with an FFmpeg decoder handles HEVC/x265, 4K/HDR, AC3/E-AC3, DTS and TrueHD audio.
- Made for the couch: a Fire TV-style home screen with a large banner and rows of titles, fully usable with a TV remote.
- Continue watching: resume where you left off; series auto-play the next episode.
- Debrid support: paste a Torrentio link configured with Real-Debrid, AllDebrid or Premiumize for instant streams.

🚀 Getting started
- Windows: run the installer or the portable version. Windows SmartScreen may warn because the app isn't signed yet: choose More info → Run anyway.
- Android TV: turn on Install unknown apps (Settings → Device Preferences → Security), then install the APK with the Downloader app, Send Files to TV or a USB drive.
- Recommended: add a free SubDL API key in ⚙ Settings (subdl.com/panel/api) for many more Farsi subtitles.
- Optional: paste your own Torrentio configuration link in ⚙ Settings to set quality filters or a debrid service.
⚠️ Known limitations
- The Android player doesn't have subtitle sync (±) adjustment yet. Windows does.
- On Windows, some HEVC/x265 files, or files with AC3/DTS audio, may not play or may have no sound. Install ffmpeg (
winget install ffmpeg) to turn on automatic conversion, or pick an x264 source. - Streaming speed depends on the torrent's peers. If a source stalls, choose one with more seeders.
- Apps are fairly large (55–90 MB) because each includes its own streaming engine and video decoders.
🔒 Notes
- The streaming engine runs only on your device; on Android it can't be reached from other devices on your network.
- What you stream is your responsibility: only watch content you have the right to access in your country.
