buddylist v0.2.12

Choose a tag to compare

@SafaElmali SafaElmali released this 13 Oct 13:29

What's new

  • Show a project's + all the time — The + that starts another contact on a project is always at the end of the project's line, not only once you point at it.
  • A 30-second tour on the website — The landing page plays a short film of buddylist at work, lets you switch the live demo to the professional look, and shows the same window in both looks side by side.
  • A changelog that always loads — The changelog is written by hand for the people who use buddylist, so it no longer says the releases couldn't be loaded.
  • The terminal comparison table lines up again — On the website, its columns sit under their headers, with square corners and no empty band above it.

buddylist brings Claude Code, Codex, Gemini and OpenCode into a classic messenger buddy list.

This release contains the latest changes that passed the automated tests and macOS build.

Install on an Apple Silicon Mac

  1. Download buddylist-mac-arm64.dmg below.
  2. Open the disk image and drag buddylist to Applications.
  3. Open buddylist from Applications.

Updating an existing installation? Copies with automatic updates download each new version by themselves and ask you to restart buddylist to install it. A copy of v0.2.7 or earlier is replaced by hand this once: quit buddylist, then drag this version into Applications over it.

Coming from Agent Messenger? That is what buddylist was called before. Quit Agent Messenger, drag buddylist to Applications, and delete Agent Messenger from there. Your contacts and history come along the first time buddylist opens.

This release is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so it opens like any other app you download.

Requires an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer). Intel Macs and Windows are not supported yet. Use your own agent accounts: Claude Code is bundled; Codex, Gemini and OpenCode need their respective CLI installed and signed in.

This repository contains downloads only. The application's source repository is private.

buddylist v0.2.5

Choose a tag to compare

@SafaElmali SafaElmali released this 11 Oct 10:16

What's new in 0.2.5

Pull request review, a Settings window and a dark theme

Review a pull request without leaving the conversation, set up each project in one place, and pick a dark theme or follow the system.

New

  • A dark theme. Tools > Theme picks it, or follows the system.
  • A new install is welcomed by a wizard that signs you in to Claude without a terminal and ends in your first contact.
  • A Settings window, with each project's scripts, variables, branches, instructions and files to copy.
  • Your contacts are listed beside a conversation. Go from one to the next in the same window, or add one from there.
  • The pane beside a conversation has two halves: files, changes and checks above, scripts and terminals below.
  • A project has a right-click menu, and a new chat has Setup, Run and Terminal tabs beside it.
  • After a pull request is merged or closed, Continue starts the contact on a new branch and Archive puts it away.
  • A contact's message history lists the conversations held in Claude Code too.
  • Connect to GitHub from the app when gh is signed out or missing.
  • ⌘N adds a contact, and a new contact starts out like the last one added.
  • Review a pull request beside the conversation. The Changes tab lists a branch's commits and shows the review comments under their lines. Comment on a line, reply to a thread, resolve it and mark files as viewed.
  • A Create PR button in the conversation's toolbar, with draft and manual options.
  • A Browser tab shows a web page beside the conversation, for a dev server or a link from a reply.
  • A Helpers tab shows what a contact's helpers are doing, with a Stop for each.
  • A context meter says what fills the context window and how much of your plan's limits is used.
  • Invite a model into a conversation without adding it to the contact list.
  • A contact's branch is named after its first message, with a prefix of your own.
  • /mcp answers with a list of the MCP servers and what to do about each.
  • Tools > Show activity lines hides a conversation's tool call lines.
  • buddylist says when a newer version is out, and downloads it for you.
  • Help > Send feedback sends feedback, a bug report or a feature request, with a screenshot if you like.
  • A Professional look beside the messenger one, for a quieter window at work. Tools > Look picks it, in light, dark or following the system.
  • A Claude contact can check back on its own, for example to tell you when CI is green. The conversation and the contact list say when it will.
  • Agent Messenger is now buddylist, at buddylist.dev. Your contacts and conversations move over the first time you open it.

Improvements

  • A bar resizes the pane beside the conversation, and the pane can fill the window.
  • The Changes tab has Expand all, Collapse all and a plus on the line under the mouse.
  • A progress bar shows while a repository is cloned or a project is created.
  • A contact's made-up nickname follows its branch.
  • buddylist counts how it is used, without names or messages. Tools > Share anonymous usage data turns that off.
  • buddylist reports its own errors and crashes. Tools > Send error reports turns that off.
  • Searching past conversations no longer freezes the app.
  • Long code blocks and long replies stream smoothly.
  • Starting an agent no longer freezes the windows for a moment.
  • Conversations with many file edits save faster and take far less disk space.

Fixes

  • Codex stops asking as soon as Never ask is picked.
  • A contact says that its helpers are still at work, and that Claude is answering when it starts a turn on its own.
  • A line or paragraph separator in a message no longer splits it in two.
  • Opening a saved conversation no longer fades every line in again.
  • Your contacts and settings are kept when their file can't be read, instead of starting over.
  • An agent's reply can no longer restyle the window or cover a permission prompt.
  • A malformed message from an agent no longer crashes the app.
  • When Claude or Codex stops mid-turn, its reply is saved and its tools stop spinning.
  • Typing ç (⌥C) no longer answers a permission prompt.
  • A repository whose origin/HEAD points to a deleted branch works again.
  • A worktree folder deleted by hand no longer holds on to its branch.
  • A run script added in Settings no longer starts a second copy.
