Loopcut v0.2.5 (beta)
Loopcut 0.2.5 beta · 20 October 2026
Your characters can move now. Act something out on video, or describe it in a sentence, and Loopcut puts the motion on your own rig. An empty conversation offers four requests you can send with one click, and a reply that comes back empty is retried instead of leaving the panel blank. Loopcut also starts sending anonymous usage stats, which you can turn off. Your copy updates itself: when the panel shows "Restart to update", click it.
New
- Motion from video. Give the assistant a clip of someone moving, and it captures the whole body, hands included, and puts the motion on your character. The clip can be a movie clip, a video strip in your edit (its trim is the part captured) or a file: MP4, MOV or WebM up to 200 MB, and up to 60 seconds captured. It works best with one person in full view, a mostly still camera and good light. It costs 3 credits per second of video captured, with a 2-second minimum, and you see the quote before it runs.
- Motion from text. Describe one action, such as "walks forward four steps, stops and waves", and get 2 to 10 seconds of body animation. Walks, runs, jumps, gestures and dances work well; fingers stay still, and it doesn't do faces or holding props. It costs 2 credits per second of motion (5 when this release shipped; lowered on 21 October). Built with Meta Llama 3.
- On your own rig. Both kinds of motion are retargeted onto your character's armature in Blender, free of charge. Mixamo, Unreal (UE4 and UE5), Auto-Rig Pro and Rigify rigs are recognised, and other humanoid rigs are matched by bone names. The character keeps facing the way it stood, its path is scaled to its leg length, and "in place" keeps it from travelling. Your previous animation is kept in a muted NLA track. Without a rig, the motion comes in on its own skeleton with a simple body.
- One-click starter prompts. An empty conversation suggests four requests: a stylized treasure chest, a free wooden chair from the asset libraries, a bouncing ball with squash and stretch, and a scatter of low-poly rocks. Click one to send it. Before a model is connected, the click fills the input instead.
- A signed Windows build. The Windows installer and every program and library in it are now code-signed, so Windows can tell the download really comes from us.
- Anonymous usage stats, with an opt-out. Loopcut now sends short events when it starts, at each setup step, and when a turn with the assistant ends: versions, operating system, processor, which model ran, whether the turn finished, how long it took, how many tool calls it made and a short error code. They carry a random install id. They never include your prompts, the assistant's replies, file or object names, or anything from your scene. Turn them off with "Share anonymous usage stats" in Preferences > Add-ons > Loopcut or in the setup window's privacy step. Details: loopcut.org/privacy.
Fixed
- A first reply that came back empty, or cut off after a few words, left the panel showing nothing. Loopcut now retries it once, and if it is empty again, says so and offers Try again or another model. When a provider's content filter stops a reply, the panel says that instead.
Known issues
- The Mac build isn't signed yet, so macOS asks you to confirm the first open: System Settings > Privacy & Security > Open Anyway.
- Windows: if "Windows protected your PC" still appears while the new signature builds trust, choose More info > Run anyway.
- Windows is less tested than Mac. Please report anything odd on install or update.
- Reporting bugs: Help > Report a Bug opens our bug page.
