v1.1.0 — music player, downloader fixes, motion polish

Choose a tag to compare

@SamiulH25 SamiulH25 released this 03 Oct 21:31

Mixtape is now a full music player and downloader.

New: the player (DECK tab)

  • Library of everything on your phone, with search, sort, and Tracks / Artists / Albums views.
  • Persistent mini-player and a full Now Playing screen: a cassette whose reels spin up and down with the music, a segmented seek bar, shuffle, repeat, speed, sleep timer, and a reorderable queue.
  • Background playback with lock-screen, notification and Bluetooth controls; the queue survives a process kill.
  • PLAY button on finished downloads; a "tapes ready" prompt when a download completes.

Downloader (DUB tab) fixes

  • Settings sheet actually opens; Wi-Fi-only no longer wedges the queue after STOP ALL.
  • Progress counts the tracks you selected, not the whole playlist.
  • Share → Mixtape and YouTube links open straight into the app; paste button added.
  • Already-downloaded tracks are detected and marked ON DEVICE; per-track retry; cancel a fetch in progress.
  • Plain-language error messages, history delete/clear, state survives rotation, Back leaves History.
  • 48dp touch targets, better contrast, tablet/landscape layout.

Motion

  • Direction-aware tab transitions, mechanical key-press nav, animated mini-player and Now Playing, staggered library rows, stamp-slam on finished tracks, haptic ticks on the seek bar. Respects the system "remove animations" setting.

Heads up

  • The player needs audio-read permission (READ_MEDIA_AUDIO); your own downloads still play without it.
  • These APKs use a different debug signing key than earlier releases, so Android will refuse to update v1.0.0 in place. Uninstall the old build first (this clears the queue and history; files in Music/Mixtape normally stay).

Requires Android 10+. Grab Mixtape-v1.1.0-arm64.apk for most phones (or the universal APK for other devices).

v1.0.0 — Mixtape rebrand, Tape Deck UI + queue survival

Choose a tag to compare

@SamiulH25 SamiulH25 released this 23 Aug 03:19

Now called Mixtape (formerly MobileMus) — same app, new name and tape-deck look.

Queue survival

  • The queue is persisted continuously: if the system kills the app mid-download,
    tracks come back as Paused and resume with one tap.
  • A per-track watchdog fails hung downloads after 20 minutes instead of
    wedging the whole queue.

Parallel workers + settings console

  • Downloads run through 1–4 concurrent workers, configurable in the new
    tape-styled settings sheet — which also shows the bundled yt-dlp version.
  • Wi-Fi-only mode parks workers on metered networks and resumes automatically.

Playlist tools

  • Filter field, sort by original order / title / length, one-tap retry failed.
  • Session history: re-fetch any past playlist in one tap.

Tape Deck UI

  • Fixed cream/ink/orange brand palette in light and dark, serif + mono type
    pairing bundled offline, hard-shadow chrome, animated reel and VU meters.

Tape Deck

Requires Android 10+. Grab Mixtape-v1.0.0-arm64.apk for most phones
(or the universal APK for other devices).

v0.2.0 — choose your save location + UI refresh

Choose a tag to compare

@SamiulH25 SamiulH25 released this 21 Aug 23:50

New: custom save destination

  • Tap the Saves to bar on the main screen to pick Music/ or Downloads/ and any subfolder — changes apply to subsequent downloads, persisted across restarts.

UI refresh

  • Card-style track rows with video thumbnails, duration badges and animated selection
  • Status pills (Queued / Tagging / Done / Failed), per-track progress bars
  • Hero header with always-visible destination bar, snackbar feedback
  • Refined empty state, indigo fallback themes for pre-Android-12 devices

List

Fix: a failed playlist fetch no longer leaves the loading spinner stuck.
