Release list
v1.2.0
Added
- Custom apps on the screen in the world. Players standing near a computer now see a custom app's page on the prop's screen, live, like the desktop's own apps, instead of a grey window with the app's icon. Password fields stay masked, and an app can keep parts of its page off the screen with the class
mirror-block.- An app that should stay off it entirely registers with
mirror = false, and nearby players see its icon and name. A page from a fullhttp(s)://address (a site, or a dev server while you build it) is never copied: the desktop cannot read it. - Canvases in an app's page are sent as small pictures a few times a second, like the hack minigames.
- An app that should stay off it entirely registers with
The details are in Custom Apps: the screen other players see.
Fixed
- Custom apps' icons on the desktop and the taskbar showed as broken pictures on the screen in the world. The screen only loads pictures from hosts it is given, and the apps' resources are on that list now.
Updating
Download sd-computers.zip below and unzip it over your sd-computers folder, keeping your own copies of anything you changed in configs/. No config file changed in this release.
Not "Source code (zip)". That is the source, without the built interface, and a computer opens to a blank screen until you build it yourself.
v1.1.0
Added
- Custom apps. Other resources can now put their own programs on the desktop. An app is a web page from your resource: register it from your server with
exports['sd-computers']:AddCustomApp({...})and it gets an icon, a window, a taskbar and dock entry and a count badge, in all three looks.- Decide who gets it on which computer: by computer, by look, by job or gang, by an item they carry, or by a check of your own. Apps appear and disappear on open desktops as they are registered, removed, or as their gates change.
- The page gets the desktop's API as
window.computer: calls to your server that only ever run for a player signed in at a computer with your app, the desktop's own dialogs and context menus, notifications, the Photos picker, printing to a printer in the room, storage per character or per computer, opening Mail or the Browser, lines in the Event Viewer, its window, and the desktop's colours to match them. - Your server and client push to the page with
SendAppMessage/SendCustomAppMessage, andonOpen/onCloserun on your server as the window opens and closes. - Players watching the screen on the prop see your app's name, never its page.
- App templates. sd-computers-app-templates has the same small app in plain JavaScript, React (JavaScript and TypeScript), Vue and Svelte, ready to copy and rename, and Wrenchworks, a garage's work-order book that uses every call.
The guide is at docs.samueldev.shop/resources/computers/custom-apps.
Fixed
- Printed pages with a long line beside the letterhead no longer break the letterhead in the middle of a word.
- The games' windows no longer close when the desktop's list of apps changes, such as when a phone is linked.
Updating
Download sd-computers.zip below and unzip it over your sd-computers folder, keeping your own copies of anything you changed in configs/. There is one new config file, configs/shared/apps.lua (the limits on custom apps), and configs/config.lua has one new line for it, Apps = require 'configs.shared.apps'. Without that line the defaults apply. The new computers_app_data table creates itself on first start.
Not "Source code (zip)". That is the source, without the built interface, and a computer opens to a blank screen until you build it yourself.
v1.0.1
Fixed
- Admins opening
/computeradminas View only. sd-computers givesgroup.adminthe edit permission (sd_computers.edit) when it starts, through ox_lib. On a server that does not let ox_lib runadd_ace(noadd_ace resource.ox_lib command.add_ace allowin its cfg), that was refused with only "Access denied" in the console, and admins could look around the panel but not change anything.- Anyone allowed every command can now edit. txAdmin's standard
add_ace group.admin command allowgives admins that, so they need no extra lines. AViewGroupstill only looks. - When the grant is refused, the console says so when sd-computers starts, with the line to add to your server.cfg.
- Anyone allowed every command can now edit. txAdmin's standard
See Permissions in the docs.
Updating
Download sd-computers.zip below and unzip it over your sd-computers folder, keeping your own copies of anything you changed in configs/. Only server/admin/panel.lua and fxmanifest.lua changed, so replacing just those two files works too. Nothing in the database changes.
Not "Source code (zip)". That is the source, without the built interface, and a computer opens to a blank screen until you build it yourself.
v1.0.0
The first release of sd-computers: a working desktop on any computer in your city, free and open source. Try it in the browser first at fivem.samueldev.shop/computer.
Installing
Download sd-computers.zip below and unzip it into your resources folder. It is the resource with its interface already built.
Not "Source code (zip)". That is the source, without the built interface, and a computer opens to a blank screen until you build it yourself (
npm installandnpm run buildinweb/).
It needs ox_lib, oxmysql and a target resource (ox_target, qb-target or qtarget), and runs on QBox and QBCore, and on ESX without the Business Manager. The database tables create themselves. Add the printed_document item to your inventory if you want printers; the picture is in docs/items/. The full guide is at docs.samueldev.shop/resources/computers/installation.
What is in it
- Apps: Mail with shared
@lsmail.comaccounts, Files (a document editor with typefaces, pictures and lines to sign on), Photos, a Browser for the city's own sites, Bank, a Company Board, a Business Manager for bosses, Security Cameras, Event Viewer with each machine's System Logs, Command Prompt, Games, Notepad, Calculator and Settings. - Three looks, picked per computer: SD OS Pro (
modern), SD Desktop 3.11 (retro, inside a beige CRT) and SD OS Harbor (mac). - At the screen: the camera goes up to the prop and the desktop sits inside its own screen, with the room still around it. Out in the world, an unused computer shows its lock screen and one in use shows a live copy of what is on it to anyone standing nearby, with password fields masked.
- Printers: pages come out of a printer in the world, wait in its tray and are taken as an item, a sheet of A4 that can be handed over and signed.
- Hacking: ten minigames from Command Prompt, breach targets with server-paid rewards, and the same minigames for your own robberies through
RunHackandStartHack, with every win verified on the server. /computeradmin: place computers, security cameras and printers in game, pick props the game already has, switch the monitors around the map on and off as computers, add your own props and draw where their screen is.- sd-phone: with sd-phone running, a computer becomes another screen for the phone (its mail, texts, notes, contacts, gallery and documents), and the Browser shows the city's sites live.
Configuration, every export and the guide for using the hacks in other scripts are on docs.samueldev.shop/resources/computers.
