First public release of KnoKeep — portable, secret-safe memory that lets any AI coding agent resume exactly where the last session, on any tool, left off.

Highlights

  • One engine, one store, one gate. The skill and the bundled MCP server write through the same secret gate into the same store, so memory carries across Cursor, Codex, Claude Code, and Cowork instead of fragmenting per tool.
  • Tool-independent, per-user store by default — %LOCALAPPDATA%\KnoKeep\store (Windows) or $XDG_DATA_HOME/knokeep/store (macOS/Linux); override with $KNOKEEP_STORE.
  • Never writes a secret. Every write passes a fail-closed gate (store/gate.py), hardened and reviewed by a non-Anthropic adversarial panel before release.
  • Self-hostable and airgappable. The default store is a local directory; extra backends (git, object store, Postgres) sit behind the same gate and contract. Nothing phones home.
