Summary

MSIXKFXArchiver cannot run against Microsoft Store Kindle app 1.0.25218.0 (installed fresh from the Store on 2026-09-14). The app's decryption module does not match any entry in the supported-MD5 map, and there is no older supported copy present for the fallback path.

Situation

Same as discussion #113 (1.0.22920 ahead of support, fixed by v10.0.30): the Store is shipping a newer build than the tool supports. The MD5 above was verified directly on the installed package (certutil -hashfile ...KatxopoApp\dsx120.dll MD5), and it is not among the entries in the current tool's support map.

Happy to run diagnostics or test a build against this version — setup is fully staged and repeatable on my side.

Something wrong with TPM on it? Not sure. Maybe it is a book that got downloaded with new encryption which is not supported on older versions? Mostly because I cannot bother, admittedly. (Which is to say, Amazon had that method ready for some versions but never activated it, so I was not aware of its existence, but it is partially backwards compatible with their software, but not mine)

I uninstalled and reinstalled MS Kindle. When prompted to 'allow Kindle to enumerate keys', clicked 'Yes', and then the command ran perfectly.

I had a problem with the new version of Kindle. My solution was to uninstall and reinstall and that worked. I had to register Kindle again. That was no problem. So if you had a previous version of Kindle and it's now not working to remove the DRM, uninstall and reinstall.

Sadly possible, but unfortunately, not something I can reproduce. If reinstallation does not work and it persists for somebody, I guess post logs then?

I had a problem with the new version of Kindle. My solution was to uninstall and reinstall and that worked. I had to register Kindle again. That was no problem. So if you had a previous version of Kindle and it's now not working to remove the DRM, uninstall and reinstall.

This has been a troubleshooting method described by others in the past, and like in your case, has worked in getting DeDRM working, I had to remove ALL Kindle registered devices (Apps not physical kindles) from my account until DeDRM started working.

Will version deDrm 10.0.32 be backward compatible with books that were downloaded prior to the Kindle update to version 1.0.25218. I have books already loaded into my Kindle from before the latest update that I haven't tried to DeDrm yet.

Usually best to work with freshly downloaded copies when trying to DeDRM anything.

As ElleKayEm said, but in general, hard to tell unless you try. Sometimes it loads new credentials on update, sometimes it does not. I also have two layers of fallbacks now, which muddles the things further (new Archiver generates keyfile, if you try to deDRM a book you dedrmed before and it is in keyfile, it will fall back to that if it fails to use Kindle version itself)

It worked well for me. I had 9 books waiting for me to dedrm them. My Kindle had updated Sept 9 from the looks of when it was released and the 9 books I had ready were acquired after that date so I actually didn't have any older ones waiting. I'm just very happy that things are continuing to work as well as they do and I hope that you continue to share your skill with those of us who appreciate all the work that you do for us.
