Cyberpunk VR Companion v1.1.0

Cyberpunk VR Companion v1.1.0 is the first public release of the Companion, providing a simplified one-click setup, automatic hardware detection, graphics profile management, Smart VR Launch, troubleshooting tools, and VR-specific quality-of-life features for Cyberpunk 2077.

After downloading the installer, run it and follow the setup process.

Cyberpunk VR Companion will automatically locate Cyberpunk 2077, install the Companion, create the necessary shortcuts, and launch the application.

🚀 Automatic First Launch

On first launch, Cyberpunk VR Companion automatically:

  • Detects the Cyberpunk 2077 installation
  • Detects GPU hardware
  • Detects the connected VR headset
  • Detects the active OpenXR runtime
  • Creates a local hardware profile
  • Captures the existing Cyberpunk graphics configuration as Current Settings (Auto-Detected)
  • Generates protected Performance, Balanced, Ray Tracing, and Clarity reference profiles
  • Checks VR/mod components and launch readiness

The goal is to provide a usable starting point without requiring users to manually configure the Companion before launching the game.

Smart VR Launch

Launch Cyberpunk through the Companion while automatically applying the selected graphics profile and checking launch readiness.

Graphics Profiles

Includes protected reference profiles plus support for editable Custom profiles.

Built-in reference profiles include:

  • Current Settings (Auto-Detected)
  • Performance
  • Balanced
  • Ray Tracing
  • Clarity

Protected profiles can be duplicated into Custom profiles for editing.

Friendly Profile Controls

Known graphics settings use sliders, toggles, and selectors where they can be safely represented instead of requiring users to edit raw configuration values.

Hardware Compatibility Analysis

Profiles can be evaluated against detected GPU, headset, OpenXR runtime, and other system information.

Assisted Tuning

The Companion can generate tuning recommendations and create a new Custom profile without modifying protected originals.

Community Profiles

Import and export shareable profile packages with compatibility and creator metadata.

VR / Flatscreen Mode Control

Switch between VR and normal flatscreen operation without manually removing and reinstalling the VR port.

Health Check

Quickly check installation state, required components, profiles, launch readiness, and common configuration problems.

Diagnostic Pack

Create a privacy-sanitized diagnostic archive for troubleshooting and bug reports.

Stereo Startup

When an HMD and compatible OpenXR environment are available, Cyberpunk VR Companion uses a true OpenXR/D3D11 stereo startup presentation.

A normal desktop presentation is used as a fallback when stereo startup is unavailable.

Uninstall / Full Reset

Includes normal uninstall functionality as well as a clearly labeled Full Reset option for completely resetting Companion-managed state.

🖥️ VR / Flatscreen Recovery Mode

Some Cyberpunk 2077 scenes or mission interactions may not behave correctly while a VR port is active.

Examples can include:

  • Gaze-dependent interactions
  • 2D UI interactions
  • Scripted camera sequences
  • Position-sensitive events
  • Mission objectives that fail to register correctly in VR

Cyberpunk VR Companion includes a safe recovery workflow for these situations.

Recommended workflow:

  1. Save your game.
  2. Fully exit Cyberpunk 2077.
  3. Switch the Companion to Flatscreen mode.
  4. Relaunch the game.
  5. Complete the blocked scene or mission step.
  6. Save and fully exit Cyberpunk again.
  7. Switch the Companion back to VR mode.
  8. Relaunch and continue playing in VR.

Do not switch between VR and Flatscreen modes while Cyberpunk 2077 is running.

📋 Requirements

Cyberpunk VR Companion does not include Cyberpunk 2077 or third-party VR/mod frameworks.

A compatible Cyberpunk VR environment is required.

Typical environment:

  • Windows 10/11 x64
  • Cyberpunk 2077
  • Cyber Engine Tweaks
  • RED4ext
  • Compatible Cyberpunk VR port
  • Working PCVR/OpenXR runtime

The Companion will report missing or incompatible components through Automatic Setup and Health.

  1. Open Health and review the results.
  2. Attempt to reproduce the issue once if safe.
  3. Create a Diagnostic Pack when appropriate.
  4. Open a Bug Report through this repository.

  • GPU
  • VR headset
  • OpenXR runtime
  • Whether the issue occurred in VR or Flatscreen mode
  • Clear reproduction steps
  • Sanitized Diagnostic Pack when relevant

Tested VR Port
Cyberpunk VR Companion v1.1.0 was developed and validated primarily with the iPowerTech CyberpunkVR Port:

The port is a separate third-party project and is not bundled with Cyberpunk VR Companion. Follow the VR port project's current README, dependencies, and installation instructions first, verify that Cyberpunk launches correctly in VR, and then install/use the Companion.

Uninstall / Full Reset
Cyberpunk VR Companion includes a normal uninstall option and a FULL RESET option.
Normal uninstall removes the Companion while preserving the intended user data/state.
FULL RESET clears Companion-managed state for a completely fresh Companion setup.
Neither option removes Cyberpunk 2077, CET, RED4ext, the VR port, Virtual Desktop, or the user's OpenXR runtime.

🔐 Windows Security Notice

Cyberpunk VR Companion v1.1.0 is currently distributed as an unsigned Windows application.

Because this is a new community utility without an established Windows reputation or commercial code-signing certificate, Windows may display an Unknown Publisher or Microsoft Defender SmartScreen warning when launching the installer.

Always download Cyberpunk VR Companion from this official GitHub repository and verify the SHA-256 checksum if desired.

To verify the downloaded installer using PowerShell:
