v1.2.3

Choose a tag to compare

@daisy-releases-publisher daisy-releases-publisher released this 12 Oct 15:24

Daisy Controller 1.2.3 — universal macOS build (Apple Silicon + Intel) and a 64-bit Windows installer, seeded with Daisy Library 1.6.3.

Mass flow controller

  • Pause and Resume during a dose now work. A paused dose keeps its progress: Dispensed holds, the estimate shows "Live: Paused", and Resume continues to the original target volume rather than starting over or doing nothing.
  • While a dose is running or paused, Start is hidden, so a dose can't be restarted from zero by accident. Use Stop to end it.
  • The panel returns to idle by itself when a dose ends, however it ends: on reaching the volume, from Stop, or from a notebook or recipe.
  • Stop always cuts the gas at once, even if pressed while a Resume is in progress, and switches off both channels even if one of them doesn't answer.
  • If a Stop can't confirm the gas is off, the panel stays running and asks you to press Stop again, instead of showing the dose as finished.

This fixes the known issue listed in 1.2.2.

App

  • Bundled Daisy Library 1.6.3, which carries the dose and stop behaviour above for scripts and notebooks too.

Use of the software is governed by the Scalables Software License Agreement.

v1.2.2

@LuiNobrega-Scalables LuiNobrega-Scalables released this 11 Oct 20:09

Daisy Controller 1.2.2 — universal macOS build (Apple Silicon + Intel) and a 64-bit Windows installer, seeded with Daisy Library 1.6.2. This release includes everything since 1.1.0.

Instruments

  • Mass flow controller: Start now delivers the Target volume at the set flow rate, and the controller closes its own valve when the volume is reached, even if the computer disconnects. New Dispensed and Remaining readouts; volumes are in standard litres (SL).
  • Mass flow controller: Ramp to target takes a ramp duration and the controller reaches the flow rate smoothly over that time. Stop and Pause always cut the gas at once.
  • Mass flow controller: full scale is read from each channel when the module connects, and live readings show any warnings the controller reports.
  • Daisy Process: a Probe calibration section on channels holding a pH probe, with one- and two-point calibration and a check of the current offset and slope.
  • Peri S and Peri XL: the panels match their fixed pump heads. The roller and tubing pickers borrowed from the Peri T are gone; enter your measured flow at 60 rpm as the Calibration value.
  • Peri XL runs up to 600 rpm, so large tubing can reach the full flow range on the product sheet.
  • Pistons: aspirate speed is capped below dispense speed, as the pump maker recommends, and the panel shows each pump's aspirate limit.
  • Pistons: the position marker follows the pump closely, and the volume readout shows the volume you asked for.
  • Gantry: travel limits are read from the instrument, and number boxes accept only the stage's real resolution.
  • Z Stage 85 mm is supported.
  • New product photos for the Peri S, the Gantry and the mass flow controller.

Errors and safety

  • When an instrument refuses a command or reports a fault, the message now says what to do, for example "The valve has lost track of its position. Home it before using it again." The technical detail is still available under Details in the message log.
  • The homing prompt appears only when homing is the fix, and it reliably appears again after a rescan.
  • If a Stop may not have completed, you are told to press Stop again.
  • One unsupported instrument no longer hides every other instrument; it shows as Not supported and the rest work normally.
  • Pausing a recipe holds a gantry or Z stage move and Resume finishes it; stopping a recipe keeps the stage's position and asks for a re-home before the next move.
  • Panel Pause and Resume no longer wait behind a running stage move.
  • A recipe runs on exactly the instrument it names when two of the same kind are connected.

Notebook

  • Per-cell time estimates with a live countdown, and the running cell's status in the footer.
  • Cells can draw live output: charts, tables and images that update while the cell runs.
  • Estimate no longer runs a cell's ordinary code a second time, so file writes and other side effects happen once per Run.
  • The AI assistant asks once for any values it needs, offering defaults, or writes the code straight away.

App

  • Installing or switching the Daisy Library restarts the app onto the new version automatically, and waits while anything is running.
  • A release can now require a minimum app version. An older version keeps working for viewing and editing, but stops connecting instruments until it is updated.
  • Bundled Daisy Library 1.6.2: plain-language error messages, a fixed 8-roller head on the Peri S, and refusals from valve banks reported clearly instead of as a timeout.

Known issue

  • Mass flow controller: pausing a dose and then resuming may not continue the dose on some controllers. Until this is fixed, use Stop and start a new dose for the remaining volume.

Use of the software is governed by the Scalables Software License Agreement.

v1.1.0

Choose a tag to compare

@LuiNobrega-Scalables LuiNobrega-Scalables released this 01 Oct 22:06

Daisy Controller 1.1.0 — universal macOS build (Apple Silicon + Intel) and a 64-bit Windows installer, seeded with Daisy Library 1.3.0.

Instruments

  • Daisy Process: a Detect probes button re-identifies the probes on all four channels without a rescan, so a probe moved between channels while the panel is open is picked up on demand.
  • Daisy Process: a channel with no probe collapses to "No probe" instead of offering a Real-Time toggle and a Take Measurement that would wait on the empty socket.
  • Daisy Process: real-time readings refresh every second (was every 5 s).
  • Daisy Process: an Incyte (viable cell density) probe now shows its conductivity in mS/cm beside the cell-density value, read through the new per-channel measurement in Daisy Process firmware v0.3.0. On older Process firmware that slot shows a dash.
  • Detecting a Daisy Process with empty probe channels is reliable on boards still running the June firmware: discovery keeps asking until the board answers, and waits up to 15 s for it.
  • Gantry: Home sits above the X/Y position inputs, away from Run; the X/Y inputs accept 0.001 mm steps, the stage's real resolution.
  • Gantry: a Home that never finishes is now stopped after 60 s with a message that says what to check, and the gantry can be homed again immediately rather than after a two-minute wait.
  • Z stage: the running view counts the estimated time down to zero instead of counting operation time up.
  • Mass flow controller: the full-scale picker offers 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 SLPM.
  • Instruments catalog: products are grouped by family (all peristaltic pumps together, then the pistons; the three rotary valves, then the solenoid valves and the MFC).

Notebook

  • Estimate button in the toolbar reports how long the notebook will take to run, using the same estimator as recipes (homing and reading-dependent branches can add time).
  • Only one cell runs at a time: while a cell is running or paused, the other cells' Run buttons and Run All are disabled, with a tooltip saying why.
  • A piston, Z stage or gantry move run from a cell or recipe with wait=True now lands its position marker on the final position when the move ends, instead of replaying the move afterwards.
  • The AI assistant declines off-topic requests (general knowledge, proofs, writing) before they reach the reasoning model, so they no longer cost tokens.
  • The instrument panel's insert button says "Insert into notebook".

App

  • The footer status line now shows a Log button with the message count, making it clear that the full, scrollable message log is one click away.
  • Settings › Versions lists only stable, published Daisy Library releases as rollback targets.
  • Bundled Daisy Library 1.3.0: more accurate time estimates (rotary valve moves include ramp and reverse-approach time; all estimates reported to the millisecond), piston aspirate/dispense no longer refuses a move to the exact end of the stroke after a Stop, and clearer volume messages.

Use of the software is governed by the Scalables Software License Agreement.

v1.0.20

Choose a tag to compare

@LuiNobrega-Scalables LuiNobrega-Scalables released this 30 Sep 22:52

Daisy Controller 1.0.20 — universal macOS build (Apple Silicon + Intel) and a 64-bit Windows installer, seeded with Daisy Library 1.2.1.

Windows

  • Daisy Controller now updates itself on Windows, just like on macOS: new versions download quietly in the background, and a "Relaunch to update" button in the header and a daisy badge in the sidebar let you install when you're ready.
  • If you're on 1.0.18 or earlier, download and run this installer once; later updates arrive in the app.

App

  • Installing an update now asks for confirmation first. Clicking "Relaunch to update" or the daisy badge in the sidebar explains that the app will close to install the update, so you can save your work before continuing.

Use of the software is governed by the Scalables Software License Agreement.

v1.0.19

Choose a tag to compare

@LuiNobrega-Scalables LuiNobrega-Scalables released this 30 Sep 21:37

Daisy Controller 1.0.19 — universal macOS build (Apple Silicon + Intel), seeded with Daisy Library 1.2.1.

App

  • More reliable in-app updates: the app now waits for its instrument service to shut down completely before installing a new version.

Use of the software is governed by the Scalables Software License Agreement.

v1.0.18

Choose a tag to compare

@LuiNobrega-Scalables LuiNobrega-Scalables released this 30 Sep 17:09

Daisy Controller 1.0.18 — universal macOS build (Apple Silicon + Intel) and a 64-bit Windows installer, seeded with Daisy Library 1.2.1.

Notebook

  • The AI Assistant is now built in and works out of the box — no API key or setup required.
  • Clearer messages when the AI Assistant can't respond, such as when you're offline or the service is temporarily unavailable.

App

  • The AI settings tab has been removed; the assistant is configured automatically.

Use of the software is governed by the Scalables Software License Agreement.

v1.0.17

Choose a tag to compare

@LuiNobrega-Scalables LuiNobrega-Scalables released this 28 Sep 19:57

Daisy Controller 1.0.17 — universal macOS build (Apple Silicon + Intel) and, new in this release, a 64-bit Windows installer. Both are seeded with Daisy Library 1.2.1.

Windows

  • Daisy Controller is now available for Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). Download the Windows installer below; it is signed by Scalables, LLC.
  • The installer walks you through the license agreement, installs for your user account, and lets you choose the install folder.
  • Daisy Library comes bundled, so the app works offline on first launch. Library updates can be installed and switched from Settings, just as on macOS.
  • Automatic app updates are macOS-only for now. On Windows, update by downloading the new installer from the latest release.

App

  • The Scalables Software License Agreement now ships with the app: it sits next to the application on the disk image, is shown during Windows installation, and is bundled inside the app itself. The same agreement is published in this repository.

Use of the software is governed by the Scalables Software License Agreement.

v1.0.16

Choose a tag to compare

@LuiNobrega-Scalables LuiNobrega-Scalables released this 28 Sep 18:50

Daisy Controller 1.0.16 — universal macOS build (Apple Silicon + Intel), seeded with Daisy Library 1.2.1.

Recipes

  • Recipe time estimates are now driven by each instrument's own timing rules, the same ones the panel ETAs use, so an instrument's estimate can be tuned without touching shared code. Estimates for the bundled recipes are unchanged.
  • The app now checks those timing rules at startup and reports a misconfigured instrument instead of silently mis-estimating.

Use of the software is governed by the Scalables Software License Agreement.

v1.0.15

Choose a tag to compare

@LuiNobrega-Scalables LuiNobrega-Scalables released this 28 Sep 17:34

Daisy Controller 1.0.15 — universal macOS build (Apple Silicon + Intel), seeded with Daisy Library 1.2.1.

Instruments

  • Each instrument's panel behaviour is now defined entirely by that instrument, so a change to one instrument can no longer affect another. Position readouts, pause/resume re-targeting, and the "Homing required" safeguard on the Gantry and Z-Stage behave exactly as before.
  • An instrument whose name could match more than one device type is no longer silently assigned to the wrong one; it is reported instead.

Notebook

  • Sample Code inserts wait=True only for commands that support it.
  • Dropping an instrument into a cell offers to home it only when that instrument can report its position.

App

  • Instrument panels are built from smaller per-control components. No visible change.
  • Recipes: the last remaining "Multi Val" reference now reads Rotary Valve.

v1.0.14

Choose a tag to compare

@LuiNobrega-Scalables LuiNobrega-Scalables released this 28 Sep 13:06

Daisy Controller 1.0.14 — universal macOS build (Apple Silicon + Intel), seeded with Daisy Library 1.2.1.

Instruments

  • Piston 5 ml starts at a sensible volume. The Aspirate and Dispense boxes now start at 250 µl, so the low-volume precision note no longer appears the moment a 5 ml pump is connected.
  • Sol Val sample code is easier to edit. With no ports selected, the generated sample code now leaves an empty port list you can type port numbers straight into. Run unchanged, it still closes all valves.
  • Clearer Rotary Valve homing guidance. The panel and sample code now say to home the valve before its first port move after connecting or refreshing the instrument list, since the valve refuses port moves until it has been homed. Homing ends at port 1.
