Finder PDF 0.2.2

Fix repeated exports getting stuck after the native print window closes.

• PDF validation, exclusive numbered copying, and temporary-file cleanup complete synchronously after printing, avoiding lost asynchronous filesystem callbacks on older Electron installers.
• Existing PDFs and Markdown remain unchanged. Filename conflicts still use name(1).pdf, name(2).pdf, and so on, with one render per export and no save dialog.
• English and Chinese guides now explain the possible 24-hour delay between community review and in-app search, and record the native Finder validation scope.

Validation: all 28 automated tests, type checking, packaging, and macOS CI passed. Two consecutive native Finder exports on macOS 26.0.1 with Obsidian 1.14.4 (installer 1.8.9 / Electron 34.3.0) saved valid numbered PDFs, preserved the original file bytes, and cleaned their own temporary directories. Release checksums and GitHub build attestations were verified.

Finder PDF 0.2.1

Finder PDF 0.2.1 adds community installation guidance and verifiable release builds.

Changes

• English and Chinese guides now explain how to find Finder PDF in Obsidian, install and enable it, set up the Finder Quick Action, and update the plugin.
• Release files are built from the tagged source on GitHub's macOS runners and include GitHub artifact attestations.
• Native export callbacks preserve their this context, and math styles use Obsidian's createEl helper.
• Automatic collision numbering from 0.2.0 is retained: existing PDFs are preserved, and new exports use name(1).pdf, name(2).pdf, and so on without opening a save dialog.

Install and use

In Obsidian, open Settings → Community plugins → Browse, search for Finder PDF, then Install → Enable. The community listing must publish the reviewed release before it is available in the app.

Download finder-pdf-0.2.1.zip for the Finder setup script and follow the English guide. Community installation does not create the Finder Quick Action. Requires macOS and Obsidian 1.14.4+; Python 3 is needed for Quick Action setup.

Validation

All 28 automated tests, TypeScript checks, packaging, and macOS CI passed. Release assets were checked against their SHA-256 checksums and GitHub build attestations. These checks use mocked Obsidian interfaces and do not replace manual testing of native rendering.

Finder PDF 0.2.0

PDF exports now resolve filename conflicts automatically. If name.pdf already exists, Finder PDF saves to the first free name(1).pdf, name(2).pdf, and so on, without opening a macOS save dialog. Existing PDFs are preserved, including during concurrent exports.

• Numbering fills the first available gap and reuses the rendered PDF when a name is occupied.
• Plugin messages follow Obsidian's language, with Chinese support and an English fallback.
• The Finder Quick Action defaults to English; use --language zh when generating a Chinese menu entry.
• The installation package includes English and Chinese guides.

Download finder-pdf-0.2.0.zip for manual installation. Replace the plugin files and re-enable Finder PDF; see the included README for Quick Action setup. Requires macOS and Obsidian 1.14.4 or later. SHA256SUMS provides checksums for the release assets.

Validation: 23 TypeScript tests and 5 Python tests passed, along with type checking, build, packaging, checksum verification, and English/Chinese workflow generation from the extracted package. Tests cover existing names, gaps, concurrent exports, symlinks, invalid output, and failure cleanup. The plugin integration test uses mocked Obsidian interfaces and rejects Electron dialog or window-focus requests.

Automatic numbering and the English interface have not been manually retested in Obsidian for this release.
