ThermalAtlas Beta 0.5.0

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@Schrotty74 Schrotty74 released this 25 Aug 04:59

0.5.0

Added

  • Optional macOS Start at Login registration, controlled locally from the shared footer menu.
  • A copyable diagnostic report with the Mac model, macOS version, detected Apple-silicon chip name, and current sensor states.
  • A transparent memory status of Normal, Elevated, or High based on the displayed locally used-memory share.
  • The detected connection type for an external SSD in its Sensor Details when macOS provides it.

Improved

  • All-values menu-bar readings now use distinct CPU, GPU, internal-SSD, and external-SSD colours with a high-contrast status frame: green normally, yellow near the configured warning threshold, and red at the threshold.
  • Renamed the system-following appearance to Adaptive and refined the Liquid Glass presentation.

Documentation

  • Updated the English and German public documentation for the current monitoring interface, local diagnostics, Start at Login, memory status, and menu-bar presentation.

ThermalAtlas Beta 0.4.0

Pre-release

@Schrotty74 Schrotty74 released this 24 Aug 04:26

Added

  • CPU and GPU temperature-key families for Apple-silicon M1 through M5, including known Pro, Max, and Ultra variants. External testers confirmed the CPU display on M5 and M5 Pro.
  • GPU load and used memory alongside CPU load, power source/battery, and Low Power Mode in the separate read-only System Context.
  • New compact-view and System Context screenshots in the English and German manuals and their PDFs.

Improved

  • System Context refreshes independently every 0.5 seconds, while CPU/GPU temperature refresh stays selectable from one to four seconds.
  • External-drive topology now refreshes at launch, on macOS mount/unmount events, and hourly. An ejected but still connected external SSD no longer remains visible.
  • Known physical SSD temperatures refresh every minute for local history and alerts. SMART status and remaining health refresh at launch, after a real topology change, and at most once per day.

Fixed

  • Retried a complete unavailable GPU sensor batch with a newly opened read-only SMC client, avoiding a transient all-GPU-sensor failure on supported Macs.

Documentation

  • Updated English and German documentation for M1-M5 support, separate refresh cycles, System Context load and memory values, and the current manual screenshots.

@Schrotty74 Schrotty74 released this 23 Aug 08:07

Added

  • Choose the CPU, GPU, internal SSD, and external SSD groups shown in the popover and menu bar.
  • Menu Bar Display: All Values with compact symbols, or Symbol Only.
  • Standard and Compact popover sizes, with readable compact history controls.
  • Local per-minute temperature history for 1, 6, or 24 hours, plus Sensor Details.
  • Per-group temperature alerts after sustained threshold crossings.
  • Copyable current readings and CSV export of local history plus the current snapshot.
  • Read-only System Context for CPU load, power source/battery, and Low Power Mode.

Improved

  • The popover grows and shrinks with an expanded history card instead of leaving unused space or requiring scrolling.
  • GPU recovery retries one complete unavailable batch with a newly opened read-only SMC client; retained values are clearly labelled as the last real GPU reading.
  • English and German project home pages, manuals, and screenshots reflect the current controls and monitoring view.

Fixed

  • Privacy reports now accurately describe locally stored display and alert settings, the bounded 24-hour history, System Context, and user-initiated export.
  • Dev and Beta builds open current manuals from beta; Final builds open Final manuals from main.

Documentation

  • Synced footer controls, manual menu list, security review, and the Beta/Final release-documentation workflow with the current app.

ThermalAtlas Beta 0.2.0

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@Schrotty74 Schrotty74 released this 22 Aug 07:07

ThermalAtlas 0.2.0 is a beta pre-release for Apple Silicon Macs.

This beta introduces an English-first interface with an optional German language selection, selectable 1–4 second scan refresh intervals, and a consolidated app menu for themes, links, manuals, Activity Monitor, and quitting.

SSD cards now show the actual detected volume name, the macOS-reported SMART status, and remaining NVMe health when PERCENTAGE_USED is available. CPU and GPU cards use readable average sensor values with a bounded, explicitly labelled GPU fallback for short SMC read interruptions.

The app remains local-first and read-only: it does not control fans, power settings, or other system settings.

Downloads

  • DMG: Open it and drag ThermalAtlas Beta to Applications.
  • ZIP: Extract it and move the app to Applications.
  • The package is ad-hoc signed but not notarized. macOS may require confirmation in System Settings → Privacy & Security before the first launch.

Included files

  • ThermalAtlas-Beta-0.2.0-macos.dmg
  • ThermalAtlas-Beta-0.2.0-macos.zip
  • SHA-256 checksum files for both downloads

@Schrotty74 Schrotty74 released this 21 Aug 04:40

First public beta of ThermalAtlas, a native macOS menu-bar app for Apple-silicon temperature monitoring.

  • CPU, GPU, internal SSD, and detected external SSD temperatures.
  • Two-second refresh, defensive unavailable-state handling, and no estimated values.
  • Four themes, including adaptive Liquid Glass.
  • The DMG provides an Applications alias for drag-and-drop installation.

This beta is ad-hoc signed and has been verified for local build paths, package checksums, and DMG layout. It does not include updater functionality, telemetry, accounts, network communication, or hardware-control features.
