FreeOCR 1.1.5 is a fully local PP-OCRv6 OCR app for Apple Silicon Macs.

Highlights:

  • Bundled PP-OCRv6 medium DET + REC ONNX models; no model download or account required.
  • PDF, PNG, JPEG, HEIC/HEIF, TIFF, BMP, GIF, and WebP support.
  • Bidirectional source/result highlighting, persistent history, Markdown/JSON export, and local/LAN API.
  • English and Simplified Chinese app interface.
  • Closing the main window keeps FreeOCR and its API running; click the Dock icon to reopen it.

Requirements: macOS 26.0 or later, Apple Silicon only.

Signing notice: this community build is ad-hoc signed and not Apple-notarized. On first launch, macOS may require Control-clicking FreeOCR.app and choosing Open. Verify downloads with SHA256SUMS.txt.
