v0.5.3
Highlights
query_memorynow returns cosine similarity and, when used, reranker scores for each
primary memory.create_memoryalso includes similarity scores for automatic links.create_memorywarns when new content closely matches an obsolete memory, including
its supersession details. Warnings never block creation and can be disabled.
Fixes
- Enforce
MEMORY_SIMILARITY_THRESHOLDwhen creating automatic links, including during
targeted embedding rebuilds. The default cutoff is0.7; existing links are retained.
Fixes #65. - Accept broader project repository identifiers and recognise equivalent HTTPS, SSH,
and host-qualified addresses when looking up projects. Project validation failures
now return useful JSON errors.
Fixes #72. - Preserve and regenerate obsolete-memory vectors during full embedding rebuilds on
SQLite and PostgreSQL. Counts, progress, and validation include obsolete memories,
while their status and supersession details are preserved.
Fixes #73.
Tests and documentation
- Include PostgreSQL reranking tests in the E2E suite and verify that reranking runs.
- Isolate PostgreSQL tests with fresh application data and services per test, and wait
for background events before checking results.
Fixes #74. - Correct search and result-ordering documentation, document configuration defaults,
and update the README presentation.
Fixes #67.

Upgrade notes
- No database schema migration is introduced in this release.
- Obsolete-memory warnings are enabled by default, with a similarity threshold of
0.89
and up to three matches from the same user's memories across projects. They add a vector
lookup when creating a memory. SetOBSOLETE_WARNING_ENABLED=falseto disable them, or
adjustOBSOLETE_WARNING_THRESHOLD. - If a previous full rebuild removed obsolete-memory vectors, run
forgetful --re-embed
once after upgrading, even if the embedding model and dimensions are unchanged. Use the
full CLI rebuild for this recovery; the targetedrebuild_embeddingstool handles active
memories only. See the rebuild guide. - Search scores align with
primary_memories. Primary results remain sorted by importance,
so their position is not necessarily their similarity rank.
