Brightness, rethought. The panel's slider and the system slider are now one value. Move either and the other follows. Turn the front light off and it stays off through lock, unlock and wake — it no longer creeps back up to 3 or 6. Adaptive Brightness gets its own pill in the panel, and with it on the app steps out of the way entirely instead of fighting it.
Reply from the popup. Tap Reply on a notification popup and the keyboard comes straight up. A new message arriving while you are typing waits its turn instead of wiping what you wrote.
Reply to Popup shortcut. Assign a hardware button — single press, double press or long press on Recents, Back or the volume keys — to open the reply box while a popup is showing, so you never reach for the top of the screen. While a popup is up this gesture takes over; your normal shortcut resumes the moment it is gone.
Enter sends. Optional. Off by default, and with it off Enter inserts a newline instead of sending.
Expandable popups. Long notifications can be opened in place and scrolled.
Popup duration. Choose 3, 5, 8 or 10 seconds.
Clock styles. Text, Large, or a dotted glyph clock. Long-press the panel header to open KompaktX.
Location toggle for the panel, and a System Settings gear. The Location toggle needs WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS, which Android will not let an app request for itself — it has to be granted once over adb from a computer:
adb shell pm grant com.kompaktx.app android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
Until it is granted the toggle appears greyed out, and KompaktX has a setup page explaining this with the command ready to copy. The grant survives reboots; you only do it once.
Haptics on panel controls, with a global toggle.
Start on Boot, and the overlay now loads your settings without the app having been opened — after a reboot or a process restart it comes back with your theme, trigger, tab position and filters intact instead of on defaults.
Long-press an app in Recents for app info, hide from Recents, or hide from notifications.
Permissions overview on the settings screen: what is granted collapses into a compact list, what is missing stands out.
Defaults for new installs: tabs at the bottom, medium text, tabbed Recents, e-ink controls on. Existing settings are left alone.
Fixed
- Tapping near a tab — or on the bottom tab bar itself — dismissed the panel instead of switching tabs.
- The front light would not hold at off, and the panel's brightness did not follow changes made elsewhere until you closed and reopened it.
- Notification popups could appear behind the status bar.
- The reply keyboard did not open. The popup was hosted in a window type that cannot hold keyboard focus; it is now re-hosted when you reply.
- Changing the panel trigger flashed the front light on.
- Custom notification tones lost their file extension on import.
- The clock in the panel header froze instead of ticking.
- The Wi-Fi icon's arcs were not concentric.
- Permissions showed as "not granted" for up to two seconds after opening the app.
- Back now closes one layer at a time — a dialog first, then the panel.
Issues closed
#1 — 24-hour time format is now honoured.
#2 — Assigning a Recents shortcut no longer disables the Control Center button; Recents is left alone unless it is the panel trigger.
#3 — SMS popups show the newest message, not the oldest unread.
