Known Issues

  • On Linux systems the menu buttons might not show. We are looking into this. if this happens to you please file an issue with details.
  • On Window 11 we have seen a rare instance where you select an emulator and it does not highlight. only able to reproduce this on one system so far. We are looking into this. if this happens please file an issue.

Installation

Download Windows the EAD.exe from the Releases page and place in a folder of your choosing. Recommend a folder named EAD. In the directory where you will run EAD from there will be several files created on first run. ead.ini, releases_cache.json, ead.log (if enabled) & emulator_info.json

For MacOS - download the ead-macos.zip (for Apple M chips)

  • Enhanced: macOS distribution via zipped .app bundle for user-friendly installation
  • unzip and then run EAD application

For Linux - download the EAD-Linux (tested on Ubuntu)

Note

GitHub API Rate Limits
The GitHub API limits unauthenticated users to 60 requests per hour, which may be exceeded if you frequently refresh the emulator cache. To avoid this, generate a GitHub Personal Access Token (PAT) to increase the limit to 5,000 requests per hour. Create a PAT at GitHub Settings (no specific scopes needed for public repositories), then enter it in the app’s Options menu under β€œGitHub Settings.” The app validates the token and logs its usage for debugging.

You can turn on logging and check for GitHub API Rate Limits in the ead.log file it you think your running up against the Github rate limit.
