Broschy 0.8.3 — Repository watchlists and refined notch motion

Watch GitHub Actions across multiple repositories, keep the resting strip inside the menu bar, and open or dismiss the panel with a restrained spring. This release also removes local build-path metadata from the downloadable binaries.

Build Watch: one list, independent watches

  • Multiple repositories, branches, and pull requests. Use Signals → Build Watch → Add, then open a row to inspect its workflows. Edit or remove individual watches, refresh one repository, or use Refresh All.
  • Independent polling and failures. Each target owns its request generation, cancellation, completion history, and retry schedule. A slow or unavailable repository does not block other watches. Successful polls repeat after 30 seconds; errors back off to 60, 120, then 300 seconds.
  • Persistent watchlist with migration. Stable IDs keep each watch's local preferences separate. An existing enabled repository and its completion history migrate automatically. A previously disconnected watch stays disconnected, and removing the last watch does not restore it on relaunch.
  • Combined notch activity. Live workflow counts are aggregated across repositories. The newest eligible completion takes priority for 12 seconds; otherwise the notch identifies an active repository. Snapshots older than 75 seconds stop contributing live activity.
  • Clear timestamps. Repository rows show Checked for the last successful fetch. Workflow rows show GitHub's fixed Updated timestamp. Neither is an execution timer.

Build Watch retains its existing read-only scope: GitHub.com through the installed, signed-in gh CLI; up to ten recent runs per target. It does not download logs, rerun or cancel workflows, or merge PRs.

Notch motion

The resting strip now fits the display's menu-bar band. Hover previews add up to 12 pt of width and 4 pt of height over 140 ms, followed by opening after 220 ms of pointer intent. Opening and closing use restrained springs; the physical camera region stays fixed.

Dismissal under the pointer stays dismissed until a genuine pointer exit. Generation checks cancel obsolete transitions, including quick reversals and compact-content changes during closing. Reduce Motion skips preview growth and spring animation. Short menu bars use a single line of compact text to keep content inside the strip.

Release privacy

SwiftPM's optimized binaries retained STABS source/object debug records containing local build paths. Packaging now removes those records with strip -S before signing, assembles a fresh bundle from declared resources, and checks raw binary bytes for common home/temporary paths and credential patterns. Unexpected files, directories, symlinks, or missing resources fail the build.

The release source, reachable Git history, and publication text were checked with checksum-verified Gitleaks 8.30.1, alongside manual documentation and image review. No credentials were detected. docs/AGENTS.md is the public integration guide; local agent settings, backups, conversation data, and application state are excluded from the download. These are scoped checks, not a guarantee about every possible secret format.

Download and install

Download Broschy-0.8.3-macOS-arm64.zip from Assets. Unzip it, quit any older copy, move Broschy.app to Applications, then open it. The archive includes README.txt and LICENSE.txt; verify it against the separate SHA256SUMS.txt.

Build Support
Architecture Apple Silicon / arm64
Deployment target macOS 14 or later
Hands-on validation macOS 26 on Apple Silicon
Signing Ad hoc; no Developer ID or Apple notarization
Runtime No Xcode required for the prebuilt app

Native Liquid Glass requires macOS 26; earlier systems use standard materials. If macOS blocks the app and you choose to trust the download, follow Apple's instructions for opening an app from an unidentified developer.

Upgrading: existing notes, timers, preferences, and connections retain their storage identity. If the app's location changes, reconnect affected agents through Agents → Connections, then restart those tools; Codex may require a /hooks review. Optional integrations require Spotify desktop, signed-in GitHub CLI, or supported Codex CLI / Claude Code / OpenCode hooks. Agent setup requires Python 3. Codex desktop monitoring remains unverified.

Open with hover, click, or Control + Option + N. Esc hides the panel; Quit Broschy in the menu bar menu exits the app.

Validation and source

The release passes the isolated Swift/Python suites, the release build, bundle inventory/privacy checks, strict code-signature verification, and archive extraction checks. Native previews cover light/dark appearance, accessibility preferences, and multi-repository forms. Automated checks do not measure physical hover smoothness or establish compatibility with every macOS/display setup.

CI validated the PR head; the release merge has the identical Git tree. The downloadable archive was rebuilt from that merged source and checked again after extraction.
