Release list
Stepwise 0.2.0
Loupe is now Stepwise by Second Act Labs: debugging and simulation for IBM Sterling OMS.
- Install fresh: Stepwise is a new app (its own settings), so add your licence and environments again.
- macOS: drag Stepwise.app into Applications. Windows: Stepwise-0.2.0-setup.exe installs for you only (no admin); the portable .exe is also available.
- DBeaver: download stepwise-jdbc.jar below; the driver class is io.secondactlabs.stepwise.jdbc.StepwiseJdbcDriver and the URL template jdbc:stepwise://{database}.
- stepwise-mcp.jar is the AI assistant connector for the Windows portable build (macOS and the Windows installer use the one inside the app).
Loupe 0.1.14
- A plain start of Loupe writes no programs and opens no port. AI assistants and DBeaver turn on the local connection when you set them up (switch in the menu-bar popover).
- macOS (and the new Windows installer): the MCP connector runs from inside Loupe; Copy MCP config points at it.
- The DBeaver driver (loupe-jdbc.jar) and the MCP connector (loupe-mcp.jar, for the Windows portable build) are separate downloads below.
- Open at login is off unless you turn it on; updates download when you choose Update now.
- Loupe offers to move itself into Applications.
- Windows: new per-user installer (Loupe-0.1.14-setup.exe, no admin needed); the portable .exe is still available.
Loupe 0.1.13
- Popover: a connected environment's debugger shows as the bug icon and its address, so it fits.
- The DBeaver database chip is green while its session runs (the environment's power button stays grey unless the environment itself is connected).
Loupe 0.1.12
- DBeaver through Loupe now always uses a light database session: started by DBeaver connecting, ready in seconds, no Sterling boot. Stops after 10 minutes with no connection open, or from the popover or the environment settings.
- A database marker shows it on the popover row and the environment pill.
- If an environment's debugger port is taken, the session uses the next free port instead of refusing to start.
Loupe 0.1.11
- Open at login (on by default): Loupe starts hidden with only its menu-bar icon; switch in the popover.
- Menu-bar icon: green badge with the number of connected environments; highlight while the popover is open.
- Connecting shows at once (no wait during the licence check); clicking again cancels.
- Popover: Loupe by Second Act Labs header, animated Connecting dots; a cancelled connect is not shown as an error.
- Window: Select environment, with the hint as a hover tooltip. Dock icon and loupe:// links reopen a closed window.
Loupe 0.1.10
Menu-bar popover: every environment with a power button and live status while open. The menu-bar icon is dimmed with nothing connected, animates while connecting, and shows a count badge once connected. macOS: closing the window keeps Loupe and its sessions in the menu bar.
Loupe 0.1.9
Menu-bar icon: connect and disconnect environments while Loupe is in the background. DBeaver through Loupe: table suggestions for unqualified names, URL template, copy icons for the driver path, class and URL.
