Settings
Every user-customizable setting in the Client. Open the panel with /hfwm options or from the game's AddOns settings. Settings are saved per profile (the Profiles tab).
The "Command" column gives the matching slash command, if there is one. on/off is the argument form; with no argument, most toggles flip.
| Setting | Default | Command | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Enable | on | /hfwm on|off |
Turns the whole addon on or off. Every other option in the panel is greyed out while it is off. |
| Remember zoom+pan | on | /hfwm remember |
Reopens the world map at the zoom and pan you left it, instead of your current zone. |
| Additional zoom levels | on | /hfwm zoom |
Adds 8 closer zoom steps past the client's own maximum. Not supported on the Gamepad UI. |
| Keep Centered | off | none | Pans the world map so your arrow stays in the middle. |
| Fade when moving | on | none | Controls the game's own map fade while moving (the mapFade CVar). This is a game setting, not part of the profile. |
| Player Coordinates | on | none | Shows or hides the game's player coordinate readout on the world map. |
| Mouse Coordinates | on | none | Shows or hides the game's cursor coordinate readout on the world map. |
| HD/SD Toggle | on | none | Shows the small red button in the top-right of the map that switches between this addon's tiles and the vanilla ones. |
| Moveable toggle | off | none | Lets you drag the HD/SD button elsewhere on the map. Its position is kept even when this is off. Reset to Defaults moves it back. |
The HD/SD blend itself is set with the button's slider on the map. It is remembered separately for the Zone, Continent and World maps.
| Setting | Default | Command | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Global Background | Hybrid | /hfwm bg [NAME] |
The background style used by every map type unless overridden. Choices: Ocean Blue, Hybrid, Raw, Transparent. Raw appears only if the raw tile dump was built (--original). With no name, /hfwm bg cycles. |
| Zone Map | Use Global | none | Background for the Zone map only. "Use Global" follows the Global Background. |
| Continent Map | Use Global | none | Background for the Continent maps (Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms). |
| World Map | Use Global | none | Background for the World map (Azeroth). |
| Fog of War (Zone) | on | /hfwm fog [on|off] |
Hides unexplored ground and fills it in as you explore. Needs the Zone background set to Hybrid. |
| Fog of War (World) | on | none | Draws this addon's map over World map zones you have fully explored. Needs the World background set to Hybrid. |
| Fog of War (Continent) | on | none | Draws this addon's map over Continent zones you have fully explored. Needs the Continent background set to Hybrid. |
| Map Resolution (World) | High | /hfwm clarity [on|off] |
High or Low resolution for Azeroth. High needs the optional Art addon. Without it, the option is disabled and Low is used. |
| Map Resolution (Continent) | High | /hfwm clarity [on|off] |
High or Low resolution for Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms. Same Art requirement. |
/hfwm clarity sets both Map Resolution options together.
The cave map is a small window over the world map for caves, mines and dungeons.
| Setting | Default | Command | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Enable the cave map | on | /hfwm cave on|off |
Turns the cave window on or off. |
| Open automatically | on | /hfwm cave autoopen [on|off] |
Opens the window as soon as you enter a tracked cave. When off, it waits at the reopen icon until you click it. |
| Remember state | off | /hfwm cave remember [on|off] |
Reopens the window only if it was open when you last closed it. Overrides Open automatically when they disagree. |
| Keep open | off | none | Keeps the cave window open after you close the world map. |
| Default placement | Inside World Map Pane | none | Where the window opens: Inside World Map Pane, Outside World Map Pane, or Remember (wherever you last dragged it). |
| Other indoors (beta) | off | /hfwm cave indoors [on|off] |
Also opens the window inside buildings and houses, not just caves and dungeons. |
| Cave map opacity | 100% | /hfwm cave alpha N |
Opacity of the window background. At 0%, only the border and map elements show. |
| Cave map window scale | 75% | none | Size of the window, from 50% to 200% of its default. Applied when it next opens or relayouts. |
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Dungeon | off | Shows the instance map inside dungeons. |
| Raid | off | Shows the instance map inside raids. |
These run independently of the cave map setting above.
The Profiles tab (AceDB) creates, copies, switches and resets profiles. Reset to Defaults in the panel resets the current profile.
These are saved in the profile but set by using the addon, not by the options:
-
caveWindowPoint: where you last dragged the cave window. -
toggleButtonPoint: where you last dragged the HD/SD button. -
caveLastVisible: whether the cave window was last shown or closed. Used by Remember state. -
alphas: the HD/SD blend for each map type, set with the map's slider.
/hfwm with no argument toggles the overlay. An unknown command prints the full help list. That list says clarity and fog are "off by default", but Config.lua sets both on, and this page uses the code's values.
