Blade Launcher is a next-generation, high-performance mobile launcher for Minecraft: Java Edition on Android, featuring a modern portrait-first UI, full Java runtime management (JDK 8–26), and hardware-accelerated rendering.

🏷️ About the v2.4.7 Tag

Upstream ZalithLauncher2 shipped incremental releases from 2.4.1 up to 2.4.6. Rather than performing an unvetted full upstream merge, this initial official release selectively ports and validates critical upstream improvements from 2.4.3 through 2.4.6 onto Blade Launcher's heavily refined architecture, establishing v2.4.7 as the next milestone in the lineage.

🌟 Release Highlights

🚀 Upstream Upgrades Integrated & Validated (2.4.3 → 2.4.6)

  • Launch Reliability (GP#1345 / 2.4.6): Completely eliminated fragile classpath library deduplication, preventing launch crashes and classpath corruption across diverse modded environments (Fabric, Forge, NeoForge).
  • Skin & Cape Engine (GP#1290 / 2.4.5 + Fork Fix): Robust texture fetching with atomic disk caching, supporting direct Mojang CDN URLs, classic 64×32 / 64×64 skins, and high-definition skins (128×128, 256×256) without false dimension rejections.
  • Modern Android Fullscreen (GP#1265 / 2.4.4): Replaced legacy Android window flags with WindowInsetsControllerCompat, ensuring proper immersive gaming sessions while preserving portrait system bars when browsing the launcher.
  • Minecraft 26.2+ Native IME Bridge (GP#1236 / 2.4.4): Integrated missing GLFW stubs (glfwGetPreeditCursorRectangle, glfwSetPreeditCursorRectangle) in the native bridge, resolving crashes on upcoming modern Minecraft snapshot and release builds.
  • Java 26 Ready (GP#1174 / 2.4.3): Added OpenJDK 26 runtime detection and architecture-specific definitions, future-proofing Java installation for upcoming releases.

🎨 Blade Launcher Fork Enhancements

  • Vertical Mobile-First Experience: Fully reimagined portrait interface built with Jetpack Compose Material 3 Expressive, placing critical launch controls directly within thumb reach.
  • Deep Dynamic Theming: AMOLED pure black base with dynamic color accenting, glassmorphic surfaces, and seamless dark/light mode transitions.
  • Streamlined Account Management: Instant switching between Microsoft Authenticated accounts and offline local profiles with cached skin avatars and 3D preview.
  • Unified Java Runtime Manager: Download, extract, test, and isolate multiple OpenJDK versions (8, 11, 17, 21, 26) with custom JVM flags and memory allocation.
  • On-Screen Virtual Controls: Precision touch overlay with configurable button layouts, custom gestures, mouse emulation, and gyroscope support.

🛠️ Bug Fixes & Polish

  • Translation Lint Cleared: Fixed fatal ExtraTranslation lint error by pruning orphaned Vietnamese string keys (values-vi/strings.xml), ensuring reproducible clean production release builds.
  • Signing Pipeline: Configured release keystore signing pipeline (v1, v2, and v3 signing schemes enabled) with full ProGuard/R8 optimization.
  • Network & Timeout Resiliency: Hardened skin download HTTP client with proper connection timeouts and error handling.
  • Edge-to-Edge Navigation: Fixed navigation bar overlap and display cutouts across various Android OEM skins.

⚠️ Known Limitations & First-Run Expectations

  • First Launch Download: The first time you launch a Minecraft version, the launcher must download Minecraft game assets, client jars, and native libraries from Mojang servers. Launch times will depend on your internet speed.
  • Java Runtime Download: Minecraft 1.17+ requires Java 17+, and 1.20.5+ requires Java 21+. Please ensure you download and select the appropriate Java version from the in-app Java Manager before launching.
  • Renderer Compatibility: Holy GL4ES, VirGL, and Zink renderers are provided. If your device experiences graphical glitches or crashes with one renderer, try switching renderers in Launcher Settings (Zink or GL4ES recommended depending on GPU vendor: Adreno, Mali, or Immortalis).
  • Scoped Storage: Modpacks, screenshots, and game files are stored under /Android/data/com.sednium.blade/files/.minecraft. On Android 11+, you may need a third-party document provider (e.g. Shizuku or FV File Explorer) to access this directory directly.
