More novel/manga separation, two crash fixes, and smarter downloads.

🐛 Fixes

• Novels stay in the Novel section, even on a cold start. Whether an entry is a novel is now saved, so novels no longer slip into the Manga library/updates/history for a moment while extensions load, and stay correctly classified after a restart.
• Updating manga no longer updates novels, and vice versa. A manual refresh from the Manga library only touches manga, and from the Novel library only novels; a scheduled update still refreshes both. Novels also get their own "categories to update" selection in Settings → Library.
• Fixed a crash when several downloads failed at once (for example when the download folder was invalid).
• Fixed a crash during background library/metadata updates on some devices (stricter manufacturers such as Samsung).

✨ New

• Downloads resume automatically after losing connection. If you lose signal mid-download (a train tunnel, switching between cell towers…), downloads now pause and pick back up on their own when the connection returns, instead of erroring out and needing a manual resume. Short blips were already retried automatically.
• The Novel library has its own settings. Filters, tag filters, grouping, pinning, column count and custom series are now independent from the Manga library, so changing one no longer changes the other. (Grid/list display mode stays shared app-wide.)

A critical novel fix, plus a couple of library tweaks.

🐛 Fixes

• Novels no longer end up in the Manga section, and read as text again. After a recent novel-extension update, novel sources were being treated as manga: they showed up under "Manga sources", mixed into the manga library/updates, and chapters failed to open with "the image couldn't be loaded". Novel detection is now more robust and recognizes those updated extensions again — this fixes the whole cluster (sources placement, library/updates classification, and reading).
• Novel sources now move to the Novel section as soon as their extension finishes loading or installing, instead of getting stuck under Manga until you restart the app.

🔧 Changes

• Removed the "Every 3 hours" and "Every 6 hours" auto-update intervals. Updating that often hammers sources (rate-limits / "too many requests") and drains battery; the minimum is now 12 hours. If you had 3h or 6h set, it's moved to 12h automatically.

A batch of novel improvements and community-reported fixes.

🐛 Fixes

• Novels no longer disappear from the library after opening the app. A start-up timing issue could briefly misclassify novel entries as manga; the library, updates and history now re-evaluate once sources finish loading.
• Incognito mode can now be disabled from the Extensions / Browse section. Before, if global incognito was on, the toggle there detected it but couldn't turn it off.
• The Updates tab no longer shows only today's entries. A large library update could bury the previous days; the recent-updates cap was raised well above what a single day produces (the feed is still limited to the last 3 months).

✨ New

• Download novel chapters for offline reading. Novel chapter text is now saved locally and read back without a connection.
• The novel reader now continues into the next chapter. With auto-scroll on, reaching the end of a chapter flows straight into the next one and keeps scrolling; it stops at the end of the last chapter.

💅 Polish

• The "Apply" button in the reading-mode and orientation sheets is now a clear primary button (it previously looked greyed-out / disabled).
• Adding a novel now asks "Add novel to library?" instead of "manga".
• Horizontal swiping in the novel reader no longer flickers or edge-bounces on single-section chapters.

A batch of improvements and fixes based on community feedback.

🐛 Fixes

• A source's filter sheet no longer closes by itself when you scroll back to the top (neither by drag nor by fling). It still closes with: tapping outside, the handle, back, or the Filter button.
• Incognito mode: tapping the notification (or its "Disable" button) now actually turns it off.
• Novel reader: the background color now applies correctly (it used to stay fixed).

✨ New

• Auto-scroll in the novel reader — just like the webtoon reader: ▶ button in the menu, speed control, advances between sections automatically and keeps the screen on. Tapping the screen pauses it and swiping suspends/resumes it (it doesn't stop it).
• New "Beige" background color in the reader (a warm, paper-like background with sepia text). Available for both novels and manga.
• Global search remembers your choice between "Pinned" and "All" (it used to always revert to "Pinned").
• Hide the source name on the entry details screen (Settings → Security & privacy), so you can share screenshots without revealing the extension. Works for manga, novels and anime.

🐛 Fixes

• Fixed a crash when searching during a manga migration (if the entry had disappeared).
• Fixed a crash when opening the video player (while building the Picture-in-Picture parameters before the video had loaded).

✨ New

• Dedicated local novel source: a new "Local novel source" in the Novels tab — import your epubs there and they're classified as novels (they go to the Novels library/updates/history and are read as text) instead of mixing with local manga.
• Local source gets its own section: the local source (manga and anime) now appears in its own section at the top of Browse, instead of being buried under "Other".
• Novel updates no longer flood the Manga tab: novels are excluded from the manga updates feed, and if you use novels (the Novels tab is enabled) a dedicated "Novels" sub-tab appears inside Updates.
• Dedicated novel history: novels are excluded from the manga history, and if you use novels they get their own "Novels" sub-tab in History (same logic as Updates).
• Language filter for novels: the "Filter" action on novel sources and extensions now shows only novel languages (it used to list all the manga ones).
• The screen no longer turns off during auto-scroll in the webtoon reader.

🎨 Interface

• The incognito notification now has an explicit button to disable it (in addition to tapping the notification).
• In the categories menu, the labels now reflect the current state: "Hide" ↔ "Show" and "Auto-hide" ↔ "Don't auto-hide".
• The selection box in the app icon picker is no longer disproportionately large.

Fixes for the v0.20.0 novel support, based on community feedback.

🐛 Fixes

• Fixed the crash when opening novel sources/extensions (the extensions list could crash with "key was already used"). It also affected manga and anime.
• Migration: a novel and a manga with the same title are no longer offered to migrate into each other (they share a table, but the type is now distinguished).
• The "Add repository" button inside novels now opens the novel repos (it previously took you to the manga ones).
• Novel reader: chapters are no longer marked as read when you open them; they're marked when you reach the end of the text.
• Incompatible repos (Mangayomi / LNReader, which use a JavaScript/Dart format) are now rejected with a clear message instead of being added empty.

🎨 Interface

• Browse: tabs reordered and grouped by function — all Sources together, then all Extensions, then Migrate. The novel Sources tab sits next to the other Sources.
• Search enabled in the novel extensions.

Reminder: novel repos must be in tsundoku / NovelSourcery format (index.min.json or index.pb). Mangayomi/LNReader repos are not compatible.

✨ Novels (new content type)

• Light novel support as its own content type, with a separate library (book icon in the navigation bar) and its own categories.
• Add novel extension repos (compatible with the tsundoku / NovelSourcery format) and install extensions just like with manga/anime.
• Browse now includes novel sources and extensions tabs, plus a Migrate Novels tab.
• Read novels as text.
• Global search and migration now respect content types: when browsing novels, searches/migrations only use novel sources, while manga excludes novel sources.
• Novel categories are now included in backups.

🎨 Interface

• Settings → Appearance has been reorganized into clearer groups: Theme, General, Navigation Bar, Date & Time, Cover Background. Floating navigation bar controls are only shown when it is enabled.

📖 Reader

• Webtoon auto-scroll now continues after a manual swipe (previously, it would stop).

🐛 Fixes

• Novel repos now display their name (e.g. novelsourcery) instead of the full URL, and also accept pasted URLs ending in /index.min.json.
• Fixed a crash during migration when a source returned an incomplete result.

Note: the Novels tab is not shown in the bottom navigation bar by default on existing installations; you can add it under Settings → Appearance → Navigation Style.

• Import folders with subfolders — importing into the Local source now handles nested folders. For anime, videos inside per‑episode subfolders are imported as episodes; for manga, chapter subfolders are kept as chapters.
• Delete local entries from the app — long‑press an entry in the Local source to delete it. Its files are removed (the app keeps a copy, so your originals aren't touched), and re‑importing the same title starts fresh.
• Collapsible tag filter — the library filter sheet's Tags section is now collapsible and collapsed by default, so the long tag list stays out of the way. The header shows how many tags are active, and it remembers whether you left it open.

🐛 Fixes

• Manga extensions — installing and updating manga extensions works again. New‑format repositories host the APKs at a different URL, which made every download fail with "Couldn't locate downloaded APK" (anime extensions were unaffected).
• Local import — running out of storage during an import now fails with a clear message and cleans up the half‑copied entry, instead of crashing.

✨ New

• Read novels (text epubs) — Nekoyomi can now read text‑novel epubs as proper, scrollable text instead of blank/broken image pages. Chapter illustrations and covers show inline, swipe turns sections and scroll reads within one. From the reader settings (⚙ → Reading mode → Novel) you can change text size, font (serif/sans/mono), line spacing, margins and text justification. You can also add novels straight from the app (Local source → Import → pick an .epub).
• Group your library — a new Group tab in the library display options groups everything on the fly by source, publication status, language, tag, or tracking status (Reading, Completed, Plan to read…), without touching your categories.
• Filter the library by tags — a new Tags section in the library filter sheet with a chip per tag: tap once to show only that tag, again to hide it. Combine several and clear them all with Reset.
• Custom series folders — grouped custom series are now real folders: a folder cell you tap to open, showing its members with their own covers. Set a custom cover or a 2×2 collage, and rename, change the cover or disband from the folder's ⋮ menu or a long‑press.
• Import into the local source from the app — add files or a whole folder to your Local manga/anime source from the browse toolbar (enter a title and pick the files), no file manager needed.
• Navigation bar labels — choose whether the bottom bar shows tab labels hidden, beside the selected icon, or below every icon (Settings → Appearance).
• Choose Manga/Anime sections — pick which of the Manga/Anime sub‑sections show, and which is the default, in Updates, History and Browse.
• Auto‑scroll in webtoon — hands‑free auto‑scroll in the webtoon reader, with an adjustable speed.
• Search in the source filter sheet — quickly find an option by typing in a source's filter sheet.

🐛 Fixes

• Player — when a source errors (for example rate‑limited or Cloudflare‑blocked), the player now falls back to another installed source automatically.
• Collapsed series — the first entry of a collapsed custom series can be opened again.

• 🧪 Automatic source fallback (experimental — still being tested & refined; feedback welcome!) — when a source can't play an episode's video, Nekoyomi can automatically look for the same episode in your other installed sources and switch to the first one that plays. If a source loads but the stream is broken (black screen), it moves on to the next one by itself, showing "Source has no video, trying another…" while it searches. Off by default — turn it on in Settings → Player → Player → Hosters → Automatic source fallback. The order sources are tried in (manual order, same‑language‑first, pinned) is the shared source‑priority list, reachable right below the toggle.
• Reading mode per category — set a default reading mode (paged, webtoon…) for a whole library category from the category's ⋮ menu.
