v0.1.24 — Browser session lifetime management
Browser session lifetime management:
- CLI-owned browsers close after 30 idle minutes; running commands are protected.
- Eight concurrent managed sessions trigger a cleanup warning, without blocking new sessions.
- Configure
PLAYWRIGHT_CLI_IDLE_TIMEOUTandPLAYWRIGHT_CLI_SESSION_WARNING_THRESHOLD;0disables the corresponding behavior. - Unix daemons recover from missing CLI sockets through graceful shutdown.
- Attached browsers and persistent profile data retain their ownership/persistence semantics.
Close and reopen older sessions to adopt the new lifetime policy. Use list --all, -s=<name> close, and workspace-scoped close-all for cleanup.
Fixes #75. Includes regression tests and package validation.
v0.1.23 — First npm release, standard Playwright runtime
This is the first npm publication of stealth-web-cli.
npm install -g stealth-web-cli@0.1.23Since v0.1.22, the CLI/session runtime uses standard playwright-core instead of patchright-core. CloakBrowser remains the only browser provider. Crawlee scraping and the Wreq/HTTPCloak HTTP engines remain available, as do the stealth-web-cli and playwright-cli command names.
Publishing now supports manual GitHub workflow runs and skips versions already present on npm. This release uses the committed CloakBrowser 0.5.3 dependency; local uncommitted dependency updates are not included.
This release does not fix the recently reported bugs. Review the open P1 issues, including credential output, unintended request replay, proxy behavior, and file-access policy inconsistencies.
v0.1.22 — Crawlee scraping and CloakBrowser-only provider
CloakBrowser is now the sole automatic browser provider, with a new Crawlee-powered scrape command and fingerprint-matched HTTP fetching.
Crawlee scraping
- Render JavaScript pages and extract text, simple Markdown, JSON, or CSV.
- Crawl linked pages with deduplication, depth/request limits, configurable concurrency, and request rate limits.
- Extract CSS selections or fields defined in a JSON schema.
- Retry transient failures and empty pages with backoff; report attempt counts and exhausted failures.
- Detect challenges, attempt CapSolver integration when configured, and redact unresolved challenge content.
- Respect configured proxy and DNS options; exclude cross-origin redirected content when same-origin mode is enabled.
stealth-web-cli scrape https://example.com --output-format=text
stealth-web-cli scrape https://example.com --crawl --max-requests=20 --requests-per-minute=30
stealth-web-cli scrape https://example.com --select=h2 --output-format=csvFetching and browser automation
fetch --engine=wreq|httpcloak|browser, with browser fallback for detected challenges when a session is open.- Correct raw request bodies, binary responses, separated options, timeout handling, and failure exit codes.
- Basic authentication, navigation/fetch retries,
wait-for, inline screenshots, and CAPTCHA detection/solving improvements since v0.1.21. - Default-path
.playwright/cli.config.jsonsettings preserve CloakBrowser selection and context settings.
Compatibility
- Package and primary command are now
stealth-web-cli;playwright-cliremains an alias. - Selecting the removed
patchrightorcamoufoxprovider returns an error.patchright-coreremains the upstream CLI/session transport. - Explicit
--browser,--config, orPLAYWRIGHT_MCP_CONFIGoverrides still bypass automatic provider selection. - Node.js 20 or newer is required.
Installation
The attached npm package can be installed directly:
npm install -g https://github.com/Sekinal/stealth-web-cli/releases/download/v0.1.22/stealth-web-cli-0.1.22.tgznpm registry publication is pending npm account/trusted-publisher setup: the publish workflow returned E404. The attached package is available now and its SHA-256 checksum is provided in SHA256SUMS.
Validation: the integrated implementation passed lint, JSDoc typecheck, and the full CI suite on Linux, macOS, and Windows. Release packaging and package identity are checked again for v0.1.22.

Full Changelog: v0.1.20...v0.1.21
v0.1.20
Provider provenance is now reliable across structured output and session listings. Successful and failed JSON responses report the active provider, explicit fallback chains persist requested/active/reason details across commands, and older sessions recover provider identity from their browser configuration.
CloakBrowser is now the sole default provider. Patchright and Camoufox are opt-in through PLAYWRIGHT_CLI_BROWSER_PROVIDER or an explicit fallback chain. Optional provider versions remain reportable when their packages are omitted.
v0.1.19
Highlights
eval --outputnow writes literal string values with real newlines and returns an absolute output path.- Successful JSON responses always include
provider, using provider details ornull. - Camoufox first-run installation is awaited and uses the compatible Playwright Firefox daemon.
- Camoufox remains usable when npm blocks the optional SQLite install script by falling back to WebGL-disabled launch options.
- Explicit provider selection now overrides conflicting upstream browser environment variables.
- Integration tests now isolate daemon registries and cover all issue #3 regressions.
Fixes #3.
v0.1.18
Highlights
- Synced with microsoft/playwright-cli v0.1.17.
- Reports the active stealth provider and version, persists it in session listings, and explains fallback failures.
- Adds stable JSON output with page metadata, structured nonzero failures, navigation timeouts, eval file output, and inline snapshots.
- Re-evaluates the provider chain on repeated open commands.
- Updates CloakBrowser to 0.5.3 and includes the fork runtime modules in the npm package.
- Adds 10 integration tests and verifies Linux, macOS, and Windows in CI.
Fixes #1.
