Is there a similar tool to ipfw for windows? I know there are ports, but is there anything built in that would provide similar functionality? The python script seems to just mess with the hosts file, which works, but is much easier to get around

One possibility using the hosts file might be to set up a task with the Windows Task Scheduler (is that still in the latest versions of Windows?) to review the hosts file every minute or so and see if the user has cheated.

So I've had the version available at https://github.com/ParkerK/selfrestraint for a while now. The issue is I used the QT library, so the user either needs to download the QT Framework themselves and compile it, or I need to find a way to get the QT framework files within the .exe itself (I'm a Mac guy so that is tough)

Or I can just drop the QT Framework and find something else I guess

Update: I'm 99% sure I have it working now, I found a nice tool (PyInstaller) that fixes the issues I had before with making a .exe file ;) I'll have an update in the morning!

It's all working now (Windows at least). I'm going to throw together a webpage later today explaining how to use it and asking for feedback etc. Once that page is up, I'll ping you and we can open the gates

In the meantime, here's what it looks like on Windows. I did my best to keep it as simple and elegant as your version. It's not as robust as SelfControl, but it should work as long as no one snoops around in an attempt to beat it
