hey everyone! sentient 2.5 is here :D

we’ve given sidekick a whole new home, and spent a lot of time making it nicer to use while you’re getting actual work done across your mac.

you can now have one continuous conversation with sidekick. ask follow-ups, reply to a specific part of an answer, or search something you talked about earlier. it automatically summarizes older messages in the background, so you can just keep chatting :) if you do clear your chat, your knowledge base & saved sidekick instructions stay.

we also put a lot of love into the UI. deep blacks, subtle moving colors, grain, liquid glass, and little animations throughout. proactive cards have more space, and move up into their dock as you scroll. settings opens right out of its button!

some other things you can try:

  • when sidekick asks you something, you can reply directly in the notch and keep doing what you were doing. open the full chat whenever you want more room.
  • expand “Worked for…” to see the apps sidekick used & the steps it took. live updates follow along in the chat and notch, with app icons and clear descriptions. this works with both chatgpt & claude.
  • clicking a proactive card’s action now starts the task in chat, with the request, progress & result all together.
  • you can use sidekick before your first analysis finishes! let analysis run in the background, or schedule it for overnight and get started right away. double tap gets a little ready hint once analysis finishes.
  • choose your overnight wake time, start analysis now even if you’d scheduled it for later, or let another notch app handle clicks and open sidekick with your keyboard shortcut.

there’s a lot of computer-use reliability work in this one too. we’ve improved recovery when an app takes a moment to open, your click interrupts typing, or the connection briefly drops. sidekick can look again, check what already happened, and keep going. we also improved long-running tasks and the handoff when chatgpt’s computer-use helper is already running.

if something still isn’t working, Test & repair in Permissions & Health can check sentient’s own test window. sidekick only offers this as a last resort and asks before opening it. you can review the technical report and choose whether to send it to us. no screenshots, chat content, or document contents go in that report.

the october 19 refresh also adds our FINAL_1000 courtesy gift. the lifetime offer is at capacity, but we’re still happy to give you a couple of weeks of free unlimited sidekick :) anyone who already has lifetime access keeps it.

sentient os 2.5 (build 14). requires an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 15.4 or later. the refreshed download keeps the same build number, so existing build-14 installs need to re-download to get the refresh.
