What's new
A scanned PDF page comes out readable instead of a colour smear. A library scan stores its page
as two layers, and the app kept the wrong one - the high-resolution foreground, which is meaningless
without the stencil that selects its ink. It now keeps the layer that is the page.
A comic balloon stops splitting into two plates in the browser extension. The balloon's own
outline, read by the recognizer as a stray stroke, set the height of a whole line, so the rule that
separates a headline from body text saw two type sizes where a reader sees one - and the taller
plate reached onto the outline itself.
A plate stops drawing a hairline box around itself. The extension outlined every plate for the
whole life of the feature. It was most visible exactly where the overlay works best: when the
sampled paper matches the source, the plate is meant to disappear.
An overlaid page prints in colour. Printing dropped every plate's sampled paper and repainted it
white, so a comic page came out of the printer as a grid of stark white patches. Both the desktop app
and the extension now print the colours they sampled.
Under the hood
- The OCR confidence floor now records the lines it rejects, so a decision the app used to take in
silence can be looked at. The first thing that record measured is that the floor cannot be moved:
genuine and invented lettering overlap on confidence. - The visual-fidelity lab stops scoring a scene that recognized nothing as perfect concealment.
- The pre-flight page check follows an EPUB's redirecting index instead of reporting every image as
broken. - Store listing maintenance across 13 locales (no user-visible change).
