The Auto-save feature in SC4Buddy is fairly simple in how it works.
Every n'th minute (defined in the settings panel) SC4Buddy will request the game to "gain focus" (become the active window) and then it will send the key signals [CTRL] + [SHIFT] + [S] to the game. If it cannot gain focus then it will not send the key signals and then it will wait another n minutes.
So it works the same way as if you were to save the game yourself using the keyboard shortcuts.
This however means that the autosave will interrupt anything that you are doing in the game and then save the game.
Note that the timer starts from when you start the GAME and not from when you enter a city.
Who should use the auto-save feature?
Nobody's play-style are identical but in general this feature is targeted at players who often forget to save their game and then after a few hours the game crashes and you feel like jumping out the window (even though you are on the ground floor).
Who should not use the auto-save feature?
Again, nobody's play-style is identical. If you are the type of player who use the save feature to create "bookmarks" so you can go back in time to undo your changes you should not use the auto-save feature (or at least set the interval to a high value so the game does not save so often.)
